I am a good shot and have a world class rifle....

It isn't the speed that I'm doubting, 2600 fps from a 308 is almost normal. It is the group sizes I doubt. I wish I can come out for the shoot, biggest issue would be the 1200+ miles for me to fly. I will watch for results tho, judging by your posts of late, we'll hear about for 6 months after the shoot or, not at all.

You should not doubt, i go of my way to get pictures of the targets for you guys, i give a lot of credit to that rifle, i compare it to a F-1 racing car, many fellow shooters at the range shooting TRG,Savage,Remmy, took a crack at it and it is the talk of the town, but in that i only have the merit of forking out the dough to buy it... JP.

I think some people (you know who you are) need to give caramel a break he is asking questions and showing what he has been achieving isn't that the whole point of this forum. If you guys don't like it go play golf or something your comments aren't needed! Whether he has posted about this gun more then once or not he has the right to post about it just as much as you have the right not to read it but there is no reason to get on his case for posting. Now before you guys jump on me for stating my opinions maybe you should focus your negative energy on the people that don't like our guns!!!

Caramel, you're obviously proud of owning this rifle - that much shows. However, I think your enthusiasm is getting the better of you a little bit. Shooting decent groups off a bench on your own time & pace is one thing. Shooting a competition where there's lots of mental stress involved, is quite a different animal. For a lot of people who think they're great shots, going to competitions can be a humbling experience.

You may also find that your rifle is not at all ideal for the rigours of competition or well suited to any discipline in particular. Your rifle's stock design (or lack there of) is going to limit you greatly in how you employ the rifle, especially if you think "sniper" matches are something you'd like to try. Under those circumstances, for example, a guy running a bone stock Rem. 700 LTR may very well eat you alive assuming if you both have similar shooting skills. Your rifle could easily become a limiting factor regardless of how much you've paid for it.

First you got sh*t for not providing pictures :D Then you get sh*t when you do :D Caramel I reckon your gonna be a CGN legend by the time the MOA challenge comes round.

I don't compete but I do try my best and your 300 yard groups look great to me. :)

I could almost past the test, the last targer is a 5 shots group at 300 metres .65, have to mesure the inside od a toony... JP

Now that is pretty good shooten, would love to see a photo of your rifle.;)

The MOA Challenge is 10 shot @300m from the prone postion. After each shot the target will be pulled down and a shot indicator will be placed in the shot hole. There will be a 5 minute prep time followed by a 14 minute time limit to fire 2 (converatable) sighters and 10 shot for score (group). Mags may be attached to the rifle but you must single load.

Unlike a benchrest match where you can wait out your condition then rattle the 10 rounds down range, you need to give the target puller time to pull and plug the last shot hole. On the bright side I will say, our target markers are faster than the world famous Smith Falls girls:)

If you really wanna know... Book a ticket to Ottawa for the summer and hit Connaught for the DCRA. Some of the best comp for trg and f-class you will find this side of the border. If you don't get pumped by one of the legends or a snot nosed cadet using iron sights haha(they mix classes for relays) then your off to a good start. Then once you have the spirit of competition under your belt start jogging and sign up for a tac match. Then when you have to run to your target and back take a shot on a time exposure with a gaggle of no shoots (even better if you have civs walking around with your target on a stick lol) after this you will know. Combing all the elements of marksmanship with human dynamics under physical and mental stress... That's when you will know if your a good shooter. World class tho, I think it's bold to start throwing that term around if your making posts like this. Best of luck! See ya on the line!

I figured this rifle is world class in the hands of a champion, me being and ordinary joe dont pretend nothing else, but it have the merit to have directed me toward those competitions that i have heard a lot but never was really interrested in it, this summer i want to start, and may it be clear for every ones, i dont think i will be on par with the experienced ones... On other side , i am 59 , a grand father and 60 pounds overweighed,so very nice of you to explain the tac but i dont think so, i may have shoot prone 10 times in my life, caught on fast, those pictures targets were shoot prone, i have no expectations, i love an accurate rifle, and this one is it, if i compete with the worst of the best, i will be proud doing it... JP.

Always be proud, and if you truly love it...everyone will love you lol regardless of what scores you post. If your not LE/Mil then your only doing it for the love anyways (not to discount the love LE/Mil have believe me) Hope to hear how the progress goes when you jump in!

Go to the DCRA web page and click on the latest Marksman. Go down to page 38 and see the picture of last years Canadian Bisley Team. I think 2 of them are under 60 years old.
Last years Canadian F Class Champion is in his late 70's maybe 80 (I forget), Then again I thought Leo was about 80 when I started shooting 20 some years ago.

TR and F Class shooting is one sport were you can have a 14 year old, 100 lbs girl shooting beside a 70-80 year old man on equal footing. Check your ego at the range gate because some of those kids can shoot.

I always thought, losing to a better performer is not a defeat, it is a learning experience, when i get something, anything good or performing, i never do it to impress my neiborghs or friends, i do it to impress me... JP.

From reading your posts, I think you are getting grief because initially some may have seen you coming off as a little arrogant, and having a chip on your shoulder.......That's what I first thought when I first read the thread title........

Enthusiasm and confidence are great, but you can over do it.............

Maybe just ease back a bit and listen to those that actually compete in the various types of competition.

As said earlier, shooting tiny groups off the bench or prone at the range with no time limits, ideal conditions, and being able to wait for the ideal condition is one thing, but when you get on the firing line with 15 or more other shooters who want to win and have a time limit where you can't wait for the perfect shot.........well that makes a huge difference.......;)

Regarding the Tactical rifle matches, not all Tac matches include running..........Our BCRA Tac rifle match doesn't have any running, but there are various field expedient positions you have to shoot from.......we shoot from 100M out to 600m.........rain or shine.:D

We have shot the match in the pouring rain........rain and wind are a big equalizer........;)

We have many ERT Police officers and Military personnel from Canada and the U.S. attend our match.

Some of the positions you are required to shoot from:

-Shooting off your partners shoulder
-shooting through a window
-shooting under a simulated car
-shooting from a sloped roof
-Shooting prone with no rest/bipod...only a sling
-shooting from a foxhole.
-Shooting from a kneeling position
-Shooting Off hand
