So it was a great trip. All in all I am kinda a sad that I got back a week early but hey, we all cut our tags.
Anyhow, first day we got there, it was cold. Minus 10 and snowing ... :? oh well.
Not to worry. When I got back from my little reconessnse (sp) drive I found out we already had a deer in camp.
Well the next morning me and my friend (1st year hunter) went for a drive again. And again my ex-gf dad & grandpa had something waiting for us in camp...
Here is my friend and the coyote my ex-gf's dad got.
Of course my ex's dad also managed to get a buck at the same time. Here is a pic of our 'slaughter house' section of camp.
Well anyhow, this was day two and I was getting worried... well not really, maybe I just was not lucky enough... so, anyhow here is a pic of our kitchen area of the camp.
Well next morning me and my friend went out for a drive, and had a nice buck run away from us...
my buddy was not too happy. Obviously since it was his first year, etc. I tried to break it to him in an easy way that some deer do get away.
Anyhow, upon returning to camp, we found that only my ex-gf's dad was there but not my ex's grandpa. Well, I thought I guess they got something again, i told my buddy this, and we were laughing... when we got out my ex's dad told us to go get something to eat cause we have some work to do...
I guess since my ex-gf's grandpa is the eldest hunter (76) it was fitting that he got the nice animal in the pic below.
He is on the left, I am next to the moose. A nice imature spike 2x2 that is legal to shoot in the region. (region 3). I am not a small guy, and that moose is quite big when you see him like that.
After that moose, I thought that things can only get better. And they did.
My friend got his first ever mule deer. Quite a nice one.
I finally got my nice 3x3 mule deer at 6:45pm on Oct.5th.
I guess after everyone had their tag cut it was only fitting that I would get me a deer too.
All in all the best and most fun hunt I have ever been on. Murphy's law I guess. Take 2 weeks off only to end up coming home with more deer than you can imagine and left over food and drinks..
Here is a final shot of our slaughter house
I really wish all hunting trips were as successful as this one but I know that it can not be true. I am really happy with the results and my friend who like i mentioned is a 1st year hunter will surely be a hunter for life now. It was a positive and fun experience for all and I am glad to be able to share the stroy with you folks.
Cheers and good hunting.
Alex
p.s.
Still gonna try white-tail in region 8 sometime before the end of november..... should be fun.
