And take up bird hunting instead. This little fellow visited the house today and seems to fit right in. Looks like he is going to join the family. He is a british lab and comes from a couple of great dogs I am familiar with. I think next fall is going to be fun as I haven't chased birds for over ten years but this is going to be a whole new ball game as I never had my own dog. Right now howver, I need a cool name for the guy. Any suggestions ?

Yes that would be unfortunate. Both of his parents are hunters so hopefully he won't be also, he has heard gunshots as the breeders lives out in the country and hunt on their property.

Here is a picture of the BEST hunting dog I have ever had the pleasure of being owned by.

A waterfowl retrieving machine who taught himself to dive with a crippled duck and often surfaced with said duck gripped firmly in his mouth. He was also murder on sharptail as he was a very nice flushing dog who would work within 30 yards of the gun at all times.

Like your pup he was a very light coloured Brit. and while he has been gone for over 10 years now I will never forget old Sandy.

Congrats on your pup. Did or went a similar route myself a short while ago. Ours is a female Yellow Lab and here's the first photo I took when we brought her home.

We let our Granddaughter pick a name for her and her choice was Tessa. The most likely plan for Tessa is 90% pet, 10% hunting dog.

Here's a more recent photo of her in her role of a now 48lb lap dog. She's now seven months old and a real sweetheart.
