I am being forced to give up deer hunting.

And take up bird hunting instead. This little fellow visited the house today and seems to fit right in. Looks like he is going to join the family. He is a British lab and comes from a couple of great dogs I am familiar with. Any suggestions ?

What do you think of naming him 'Brit'?

Feel free to use this manly name for your new pooch. Johnson. I picked up my new bird buddy September 13th. Here he is this week. I named him Johnson. We bagged two ruffed grouse before I threw him in the back of the truck.

Has anyone trained their lab to track downed big game ?

It would be handy if an animal got far back in the thick stuff ( NB: All legalities and regs followed of course )

I also just got my little girl, I named her Brie. She will be part bird dog, and 100% loved companion.
Other names that I was going for were : JUNO, Sparc, Maya, and Waffles. Just kidding about waffles.

Short answer: 'no'

But its illegal to hunt big game with a dog here in MB. I have a Chessie but if it was legal I'd look into getting a long haired Large Münsterländer. Thy are being bred in Sask.

Drake if you're going to hunt ducks. Winston if you wish to give a nod to his British heritage, though I personally think that Winston should be reserved strictly for bulldogs.

Maybe Churchill, and Church for short?
