I went through the same thought process a few years ago and got an 870 combo. Fast forward to today and I have that 870 with another aftermarket barrel, another 870 that I've tacticLOLed out for zombies, a 20-ga. SxS for grouse and bunnies, a 12-ga. SxS (that I bought because it was the same model as the 20 and on sale), a .410, and a Winnie 1912 that somebody gave me.
Shotguns multiply, and specialization has its advantages...
I'd agree with most of the advice here, but I'll bet that you wind up buying a couple more shotguns as time goes by.
