I am looking for Ideas for a .260 or 6.5 build in a MDT LSS system (light)

Merry Christmas everyone !!!!

I am done with .308 as a target gun. I want a .260 or 6.5 Creedmoor for target, only problem is it's not what the shops stock up on.

Is there a rifle to buy then strip out or a bolt action barrel build you guys can show me where to get started.

( I shoot sub 1/2 with my .308 ) looking for less if possible and further.

There's tikka ctr models on the EE right now . New in 6.5 and a used one in 260 . These are awesome rifles , only 20" barrel though if you want to go really far you would probably want a longer barrel . Love the 10 shot mag system - their expensive but with 10 shot capacity you only need one
 
Grab a barrel and action from bighorn sales and get it spun up. If you want to build a rifle on a chassis chances are you will be tossing the factory stock and trigger as well. May be a good point in life to spin up a full blown custom.
Here is a pic of a 308 I built, mdt lss, stiller predator action, benchmark spiral fluted sendero contour at 20" with magpul ctr stock. Was a extremely accurate little rifle.
 
I see you are in the GTA. Have you considered giving the Chou Brothers a call? In my personal experience, amazing work, and usually have a selection of Bartlein barrel blanks in stock. You can go full custom with them, or bring them an action to be barreled, and everything in between. You won't be disappointed.

They are just great people too. Nice, professional, and they build a great rifle. They built my .260 and my spotter/partner's too.

There is a growing list of chassis clad factory rifles in 6.5 something or other. I bet SHOT 2017 will have even more choices in the Creedmoor.

If you definitely want an MDT LSS type chassis, Savage and others already have guns available.. but if the accuracy goal is 1/2 min or better, consider a match barrel install of some kind.

If you go Savage and Rem 783, prefit match barrels are possible. Rem 700 as well but not as elegant.

If you are going to have a gunsmith install a barrel, then pick the receiver you like that is supported by the chassis you want to use, barrel contour and specs to your liking and have it built to your tastes.

Simple.

PS, personally, my mag fed bolt rifles are now Rem 783's ( and a Savage) ... continue to be blown away by how well they are designed, built and function. Hopefully, the aftermarket will get behind these rifles more.
