I Am Pretty Excited About This One

I am pretty stoked about this semi-auto next-genneration Beretta 12ga Defensive Shotgun. A piston-driven design, the new Beretta A300 Ultima Patrol should be above all, reliable. Building on the success of the 1301, the Ultima is a new design in the Beretta Defensive shotgun lineup. Available finished in a US Airforce-style Gray Tiger Stripe camouflage pattern, the A300 is a formidable looking design. I am all over the Tiger Stripe and hope that Canada's Beretta distributor will jump on these NR beauties right away. The MSRP is $1200 USD,, so figure at least $1800 landed in Canadaa with brokerage, etc. Capacity is 9 rounds with one "ghost-loaded" on the Lifter and one in the Chamber. Weight is a mere 7.1 lbs or roughly 3 kg. The self-regulating gas piston operation is already tried and tested as part of Beretta's Hunting lineup.

If the Canadian price is close to what you speculate, is there an advantage to this model over a 1301? I'm definitely not an old hand with tac/comp shotguns, I've only had my 1301 for maybe a month and before that I had only messed around with 870s, 1200s, and an old Ithaca 37.

I get the loading port cut in the receiver, I'd like to have that done to mine. I get the tiger stripe, aesthetics are a thing and I agree with James Reeves about a green pattern option that would be pretty cool.

My 1301 is a 21" comp, and I've been putting shells through it just about daily since I got it. It is the slickest gun I've ever used, I can't get enough of it. I'm fortunate enough to have a range behind my shop so I can shoot whenever I feel like it, although the wallet has been taking a beating feeding my hobby since we moved a year ago.

Anyway, to get back to my question, if they are priced the same (or within a few bucks), is there an advantage to the A300 over a 1301? If there was a price gap between the 2 I would understand the appeal.....

Like to see the Turks clone this one! I kid...

The price seems reasonable. And the tiger stripe looks slick!

I'd love to know the same thing.

There isn't one. It's meant to be a cheaper alternative as it uses the older receiver design, ie, not the Blink system. Also, It does not have the chromium lined Steelium barrel, which in it self is probably like a $600 part.

From what I can gather this is a cheaper gun than the 1301. Not quite as good as a 1301, but still a very good gun for the money if you can't afford the 1301. At least thats the sort of thing I heard in the reviews of it.
