It may be a little late but I bit the bullet and ordered a Bankes pumpkinseed. Michael Bankes was great to deal with, even offering to personally deliver it to Cornwall from Port Rowan. Unfortunately my schedule was full so it had to be shipped. It should be here tomorrow and we should be out on the water Saturday. Pics to follow !!

Looking forward to hearing how you like when you start using it. I considered buying one this fall, but never convinced myself.

It was a long process, but the opportunity it opens up in our area is great. With shore spots being mostly taken, even later in the season I decided to move to open water hunting. I asked on here about layouts and a few suggested to build one but im simply too busy for that right now. Christmas bonus came and went straight Bankes lol.
 
I wish I had more time for open water late season duck hunts like I did before I had kids ... can't wait to see your pix.
 
If their bigger boats are anything like the smaller boats, they must be a dream to use. That pumpkinseed is really well built, you can see the quality immediately
 
I was looking for your layout as I drove over the bridge at Hawkesbury yesterday morning on my way to Higginsons. There was open water on the east side. No too many fowl flying at 8.30 am.

Did I get the location wrong?:)
 
I was planning on hunting lake of two mountains, out from Oka. I was in Grennville a few weekends ago and the launch was already iced up, we made it out but I figured it would be impossible to get in the water there this weekend. There is some swift current under the Hawkesbury bridge, I never hunted east of the brigde, I would think its pretty difficult to get a layout out there. I might check it out next weekend
 
We're getting some open water on Bay of Quinte, hopefully you're not far behind and will get to try it
