There have been a couple of people here who have shot against TDC in matches, and lost to him. While I agree he lacks tact, much of what he says is, if not pleasant to hear, very accurate. As far as senior members getting banned and disappearing, it happens all the time, because there's no reset on demerits, eventually everyone 'points out' it takes some of us longer than others, but eventually, it will happen. I have points from years ago still sitting there.
 
I'm fairly new here and don't have many posts but from reading this thread it seems it's grossly unfair to ban TDC. He was just stating his opinion on what he believes is correct without name calling or being an ass. If anything it was Avenida who made it personal by slinging mud against him. I have seen several threads and Avenida kept arguing his views on how HK is a perfect pistol in every possible way and guns made in the US is dog poo and kept going on and on so yeah definitely banning TDC in this instance was unfair.

Wow didn't know there were demerits and even worse a broken system where you're stuck forever with them rightly or wrongly. I believe TDCs ban was unfair and disheartened to hear a long standing member and one with excellent trader rating get perm. banned over stating one's opinion. Like you said he could have been more tactful but wasn't even anywhere near insulting or could be considered offensive enough to warrant a ban worthy.

I have nothing to do with the banning of tdc. You should re read the whole thread.

You personal attack to me, seems a bit odd. If you have nothing positive to add please refrain yourself from commenting. It just confuses people.

And Yes,most usa made guNs are of inferior quality when comapred to a european counterpart. Sad but true.

It's nothing personal against you. I was pointing out on this particular thread TDC wasn't the one telling other members to shut up or they sound like a prick which were your exact words toward TDC. So he has his strong views and you seem to have just as strong views yourself. To tell a member to shut up and sound like a prick seem pretty harsh no? No matter how you think he's wrong there was no need for that. Also what does having to prove with a VIDEO has got to do with one's opinion? Do I need to prove it with a video why I think what I think? So your idea is video proof or shut up?

tdc perhaps did not insult anybody on this thread but he has before, calling people ignorant, fool, etc.
He would go on for pages trying to make a point without any proof, when the whole conversation was for instance 'sights'.
I think 'Just show us instead of telling us', It is more effective, saves us all lots of time, after all he seemed very desperate to share his knowlesge, that is all.

I am all in for education, learning and practicing the shooting sports and I enjoy learning from others too as long as we keep it fun and interesting instead of treating others with different opinions like idiots, and tdc has done that several times in the past.

I do enjoy learning from others a lot and I have doing so not only from this site but also from my local shooting range where I shoot with great guys all very passionate about the sport. I have invested and continue to invest lots of time in practicing and I am too a very good shooter myself, have won matches locally and I do not go around making everybody else feel like crap or 2nd class shooters.

I have been a member of this forum for a few years now and read many comments from tdc treating people in a very rude way one way or another and the other day I just had had enough of him and told them that. I greatly regret my behaviour ans saying that to him because it was rude on my behalf. The power of the internet: all of the sudden I was just like him. I felt like it was enough and had to say something. My mistake.

You were very specific and brought up post that I had written about hk and my opinion about german guns. I think it has nothing to do with what we are discussing on this specific thread and it is way off topic and it seemed like a very direct and personal attack from you to me. You can re read your post. Maybe your wording was off? I wil give you the benefit of the doubt, but I believe you wanted me to react.

I do believe that tdc getting banned had little to do with our short conversation but more so with pasts and current threads and posts. I also hope he does come back, I believe we all can learn from this experience and make this better.

I hope I was able to explain my point of view more clearly with this post.

Lol I see TDC finally got banned.

I'm surprised this site filled with ignorant fudds and blind ignoramus like a couple on this thread itself how it took so long. Avenida, you mentioned something about no support arguments, either you did not read his posts in which case I suggest you learn to read or your brain didn't register the logic behind his statement. Is he a touch blunt, yes I would say so, but very simply put he doesn't beat about the bush, gets straight to the point.

And Canuck 44 I have seen you attack TDC plenty of times, many times with some catastrophically entertaining albeit incoherent arguments. Have you perhaps competed against him at a 3 gun competition, since you seem to feel so hot perhaps you two can sort this out at a two way range? My money is on him just so you know.

I wish canada had a forum like M4C. It would be nice to have a webspace like that.

I read the whole thread. Supporting arguments with only words might work for a great lawyer but this is not a trial. This is a place where we come to learn, have fun, and share what we know in a polite way.

Tdc might be a great shooter, you seem to have shot with him, great, we just want to see to learn, not see to believe which is different.
Think about it as instruction. You may have seen him in action, others did not. We just want to learn.

I'm not sure why someone would necessarily have to (or be able to for that matter) demonstrate logic or fact. I'm not here to offer free "lessons"(which videos are not lessons/training by any means). I've posted before and I will say it again. I don't really care what people buy, do, discuss. What bothers me is the unfounded BS that gets posted as fact without supporting evidence. This false information leads many a new shooter down a very well worn and misguided path. Shooting is expensive, and it becomes more so when you have to back up and try again because you were fed some bad intel.

Opinions are fine, but don't pass it off as fact without evidence to support it. Statements like "I think/feel.." or "for me X is best..." are opinions. Statements like "This is the best X..." or "Brand Y is junk..." without evidence to support is all BS.

I am sometimes guilty of making people feel bad, but its not my intention. My intention is to humble those who feel they know what they're doing when in fact they don't! Put your pride aside people, take a course/class and learn to shoot. The payoff is lifelong and ten fold over any amount of money wasted on aftermarket junk. Here's a tidbit, I was very much guilty of having the "I know what I'm doing" attitude. Before professional training I could shoot a handgun fairly well. After training I could shoot the b*lls off my pistol.

I believe you are correct. For the record I made a comment on another thread and it came off as full on baiting which I was trying to be careful not to do. I won't go into details about the post, but I apologize publicly if my post offended anyone(if you know which thread I' talking about).

Ok fair enough. Your points well taken. I'm fairly new here and I haven't read or posted much until recently so don't know much about how the regular posters are alike with their past posts. So I can only go by a small sample of threads/posts I've read.
Therefore, on this thread TDC did not seem to be rude to anyone or at least he wasn't the one to escalate it so I was disappointed what I thought to be very unfair treatment he was receiving. Perhaps as one member have pointed out he could be a little more tactful but I definitely thought his banning was unjustified based on this thread. Moreover, his super trader rating suggests to me that he can't be all that difficult to deal with so I believed some were overly harsh on him when they should try to understand him and don't take his words personally.

In the end, I just want ppl to get along like one big happy community as I have had super positive experience here in my short time. Many helpful and great members here for sure.

As for the HK gun and US gun stuff tie in, I brought this up because I specifically remember you kept raving about HK and your exact words "US made are junk" which started a long unnecessary "debate". True US made in general are lesser quality but not exactly junk either. Remembering this and now this thread I was thinking hey this Avenida dude likes to stir things up and cause trouble. So I brought it up as an example but now seem I was too hasty not knowing about what you told me about TDC. If you thought it was personal than my apologies. Truth be told I'm getting a P30l this week to see what the fuss is about HK LOL. You might be glad to hear about this ;)

The demerit system really needs to be fixed. It can be too easily abused imo. TDC genuinely is trying to be helpful. No need to perm. ban him.

I have met TDC in person, and shot with him before. And I have been to 3 gun matches he has been at.

I will state the following: he is blunt but truthful. He is one of the best shooters I have ever met, and would likely put 99% of the people on this site to shame. He has won every 3 gun match I have attended. Based on what I have observed with his level of proficiency with firearms I would gladly take him into a gunfight against ####bag criminals even if he only performed at 10% of his usual abilities.

Many people would be well served to put aside their intenet feelings and read through what he says as it more often then not has merit.
