I bought a new hunting truck, She's a real looker!

Cereal83, the sticker price on the window was $53K and change. I did not pay that of course, but once you get all the taxes and crap on it, it came damm close!

Well I hope you love that truck, thats a a boatload of money. What colour did you go with? Did you get it fully loaded or just the basic stuff?

Have any aftermarket plans for it?

With the new 6.7 Cummins due out shortly, it will be a nice package. I've owned and worked on Navistar engines in the past, I have no real problem with them, I just prefer Cummins. A buddy of mine and I swapped a Cat 3208 into a F350 years ago, that thing would pull pretty much anything. As for the smell of diesel being like money re: the Dodge, well you got it half right, it was the EMD (GM) service department actually, LOL. - dan

That will be a nice ride. I was looking at them last summer and found a great deal on a quad cab ($42K), but it was a bit too tall for me. I ended up with this:

I have put ~15K on it and the fuel consumption is starting to get better. In the city I get about 14.5-15L/100km and on the highway about 12.5-13L/100km. I like the Cummins, but the Allison tranny in the GMC is the best auto in any of the diesel trucks, IMO.

My current truck is a 97 GMC C3500 with a 6.5 TD and I would have to agree with Dan Belisle on the GM service department comment. This was my first GM diesel (and probably my last), the next will be either another Ford (Navistar engine) or another Dodge/Cummins. Probably another Ford as I liked the truck better overall despite preferring the Cummins engine.

Please don't compare the 6.5TD to the Duramax!

No, but I can,t afford a truck new enough to have a Duramax in it (or a 6.0 Powerstroke). This truck has really just soured me on GM in general, lots of problems besides the engine.

Talked with a shop

that works on diesel injectors(rebuilds and does chipping) advised me that if I were to buy a diesel the only way to go is the Cummins diesel. They are in there eyes the easiest to work on. One of the most expensive is the Stroker and the Duramax.

In regards to hunting vehicles my 82 Toyota 4x4 all full of cancer is the best out there. It may look like s--t but it sure runs great.:D :D

You are in the same boat as my buddy who has a '97 6.5TD GM Crew Cab DRW. Nothing but problems.

Hijack complete.

No, we are still working on the hijack, mine is crew cab dually as well, fellow CGN's please avoid these major POS's at all costs. Buy a Toyota if you must, but not a 6.5TD.

Edit: If there are any GM fanatics that think I'm full of it, it's for sale, call my bluff! LMAO!

You'll love it, I bought a 2003 2500 6 spd cummins this year, sure wish I could afford a new one but I had to settle on a used one:rolleyes: Great mileage, until you go in the bush that is.......Lots of room with the 4 doors, the box could be a bit bigger for my quad but it hasn't fallen out the back yet.

I am jealous of all of these nice new trucks....I am stuck with my '96 GMC Yukon 4dr SLT for now. Still a very nice truck with low km's and nice to take hunting with all the room...but it's no Dodge Mega Cab diesel.

Cereal83, I got my the truck in Dark grey. It comes with everything you can get, minus the leather seats. I did not want leather, too damm hot in the summer for my liking.

Hey Brambles, what kind of mileage are you getting?

Really depends on the amount of intown driving, my last fill up which was probably 60/40 hwy/city turned out to be 19 mpg(US) or 23 MPG(IMP) hand calculated not by the computer. I have done better and I have done worse.

If you were to burn a complete tank on the hwy it would probably average 25 - 26 MPH (IMP). I have got 28 mpg(IMP) but that was on the flat with no hills going 80 kph.

The worst I have noticed on the computer was 13.5 mpg(US) /16.21 mpg(IMP) and that was in the bush going real slow, cross ditches, glassing etc

Truck is stock.
