I bought an SR-22...let's talk optics.

SAWEET!!!

does this mag have steel or plastic lips? I see it says 'replaceable' which makes me think plastic, which is a real turn-off, if true. :(

plastic... and the BC loader SORT of works on them... but once u get past about 10 rounds they start to dent the casings. I was loading and unloading my clips yesterday and it seems the spring sticks sometimes... they can be troublesome but there are fixes for them... typically people just say you gotta "break em in"

everyones going to have different opions of course but i have 2 buds with promags and they hate them. i run butler creek steel lips with no troubles. when your looking through your sights and popping off rounds your not going care to much about how they look.

I bought a Butler Creek Steel Lipped Mag for $50...this evening I see Cabelas Canada sells em for $30 a pop. :( I'd get 3 for the price of 2 going that way...that's a bit more than a straight up rip off. ah well...live n learn.

Epps has the steel lips for $29.95 last I checked.

this is true...but the lost photo-opportunities! :(

I have 2 and the only problems I have are:

A- always have to reload them.

B- the odd stovepipe from me firing to fast! :D (Got a LOT better when I took the bolt out and polished it and the inside of the receiver)

Here is a pic of my rifle... I am still missing the pws-t3 mag release (waiting for questar to ship) so my magazine is just sitting there, not actually attached haha.

stock barrel with a custom 5" shroud I ordered from Tacticool22.com (shipping cost is a b*tch)

I had to contact the sales team to get them to bore the shroud to .750" to fit the sr-22 barrel. You might wanna use a digital caliper to double check the outer diameter of your barrel because I had to file my shroud a teeny tiny bit to get it to fit properly (probably should have asked for .755-.760"). I bought the 5" because it covers the exposed barrel plus about 1/8" past the hand guard. There is a bout 5.75" of barrel from the muzzle to the barrel support.

I plan on buying the Dlask quad rail, so not too worried about shipping. perhaps it's just the angle the picture is taken at, but that looks like a much thicker barrel than stock.

I have the newer model with the rubberized pistol grip and threaded barrel, so I'm also thinking of putting a silencer (fake, of course) on it. which leads me to a new question: where do I find my options for those?

Ya it was the only barrel shroud that had the look I wanted and did not require a threaded barrel. If I wanted any of the other SBR style suppressors they all required I get my barrel threaded first. So in the end I probably saved some money goin with the more expensive custom size/bore one for my non threaded sr22. In case your wondering, it is held in place with a set screw from the bottom near the muzzle (sits flush) and is a really tight fit. It does not wiggle or budge at all.
