You guys ever cut your lip open when shooting?

I got a shooting rest from CTK Precision for evaluation and I finally got it out to the range yesterday and took my 99 in 375 out with me to test it on.

Took the first shot and was 1" down and 1/2" to the right at 100 yds.

Second shot, OUCH, didn't have a very good grip on her, my thumb knuckle came back and connected with my lip just perfect. Had an older gentleman shooting beside me with what looked like a N.I.B. Long Branch Enfield and he got a kick out of me trying to explain what happened with blood running down my chin.

After I set the gun back into the rest I realised I was still right on target, the rest didn't even move, just the gun, impressed the hell outta me.

If any of you guys are looking for a bench rest or vise for your rifle or pistol get ahold of Curt at CTK precision, I just got off the phone with him and he's all about customer satisfaction and he ships to Canada for actual cost.

Here's the lip wrecker here, can't even kiss the wife for a week now.:(

Thanks for the shells Doug, I owe ya one, got enough brass now to start reloading for her.;)

I thought I was going to get to see the pics of the stitches.

Nice rifle! Those rests work well, but I broke the grip cap off a favourite rifle I owned with one and sort of shunned them since.

....

The rest didn't moved, my point of impact was the same when I put the gun back up to my shoulder, it's just that I didn't have a good grip on the gun, it's called being to comfortable with a rifle!;)

Never busted my lip, but my friend put his shooting glasses right up to the scope on my 30-06 mountain with an 180gr load and...got a little surprise. :D

Another plus of the CTK P3 over the lead sled is that if you notice under where the butt stock sits you'll see a long nut looking adjuster for elevation so when your shooting you'll already be in position with your eye on the scope and if you shoot like me and are right handed your left elbow will be on the bench and you can adjust elevation with a simple thumb movement on the rest.

I watched a buddy of mine get a good case of magnum eye sighting in his 30-06 pump 2 years ago before deer season opened, gashed himself good, right over the eyelid.

Here's some pics of the accessories they sent with it, the P3 vise and level, they came in pretty handy when mounting that scope.

ROTFLMAO, thanks, that makes up for a medicore Christmas, what a sweet gift, you, a 99 and pain :D

Mind you, I see you use the Leupy one piece, so you can't be all bad ;)

Come on Dosing, thats a Redfield Lo Pro.

No wonder you've never had scope eye, you gotta shoot a gun heavier than a 22 short.;)

Geez Dosing that scope doesn't even have a gold ring.
What you smokin' tonight? Or is the cat box getting to you? :dancingbanana:

It would work just as well, like I said, my point of impact had not changed when I wiped my lip off and put the gun back up to my shoulder, the rest never moved, it was just me and the rifle that had issues.

Base, not the scope. The scope is even WORSE!! WTF kinda junk is he using, I mean what next, Leapers

It could be worse, he might be using Weaver (spit spit) rings. He would definately be off my Christmas card list :p
Touche Good Sir, Touche :D
If he had them on, I would have to drive out there and slap him with a can of sardines :)

I always felt bad for people who bought the Redfields with the Browning logo on them.....eeeeesh :(

I had a look at that CTK site Joe and that is a really good setup for sighting and working on firearms...I can even use it for the crossbows... gonna order one for the shop. Thanks for the heads up.

PS too bad about the busted lip... I hope you got some pics for us... so we can sympathize... you know!:p

Redd, you'll be amazed with that rest, call Curt directly, tell him Mad Dog sent ya.

Dosing, the base and the rings are leupold if that lets you sleep a bit better at night.
