Well you have some good points, that said the MK23 is a very accurate pistol, you're not just paying for the SOCOM designation and the HK logo.The quality and fit and finish is excellent.
When it comes to a 1911, if you want to go middle to top end, you're looking about the same price. I haven't shot the Vickers 1911 which is the first to come to mind but I suspect that it fits in that category. I guess it all comes down to personal preference.
