What the condition of that sks? used/unfired?

ok this is a newb question but what should i be lookin for in an sks, ive used my friends and am looking to get one but theres been talk about if they are pinned or threaded barrels, or whether they are milled or stamped receivers and such, what should i look for?
as far as i know lever arms is out of sks's and the ammo.
