All right I did it
all you buggers here buying stevens 200's and posting about them. Its all your fault.
went down to P&D and paid $30 more then WSS, but you know P&D has what you want in stock. (they had 6 stevens in 22-250's in stock, WSS 0
)
So now I have a small rifle to go with the bigger ones. 22-250, fills out the hole on the bottom end of my list, (25-06, 7mmRM, 30-30, 308, 7.62x39, 7.62x54, 303, 300WM)
well the service is always good at P&D, so I picked up a box of 50grn Nosler BT and a bag of brass and a pound of H-380. But when I got home I noticed that I don't have dies for 22-250... Yet. Good thing I also picked up a box of factory ammo to start breaking in the new bore.
so I grabbed a spare scope from my spare parts bin (that was a mistake) and mounted it and went shooting. Well first the scope was crap, I got it last year when I bought my Savage 111FCPX3 300WM package and was used for 40rds of 300WM before it got replaced by a Bushnell 3200. Well scope won't focus anymore and the target was just a big blurry white spot. But I did manage a 1.5" group and all the rounds were in 3" but thats a scope problem not a rifle problem.
So last night it got a better scope, still a spare parts bin scope
but this time its a bushnell 4-10x40, not an elite
but the next cheaper line of scopes. Should be good enough for now.
I'll see how it works out and then post pictures.
oh and 22-250 is way ###ier then 223
