i clucked, bear came

at my reloading bench!, ontario
well i went out turkey hunting today and was on my way to my spot when i seen two other hunters. so i stopped and tlaked for a while and then i started going on my way back to my spot. well i got half way their when the two guys yelled " watch out for the bear". i looked around couldn't see one and figured they meant that one was known to be in the area.

so i continued on my way and sat down under a tree and started clucking. then out of the corner of my eye i see a black thing moving towards me slowy. thinking it was a turkey i slowly looked and 3 feet away is a bear. i froze. then i flipped the safety off and when i did that the bear bolted. scared the crap out of me but it ended well. just thought id share that story!

Too True!:p Had something similar happen to me. Walking down a logging road through very heavy timber when I heard what I thought was a dog "woof". Then I heard and saw two bear cubs climbing a tree not 10 feet from me! Rifle was leveled instantly and the safety off. Never did see the mom and I don't think I have ever walked backwards that far before!
 
I think fairly often that coyotes come in to turkey calls - I had this happen to me and gave Wile E a dose of #6s in the face a couple years back. And DarrylDB and Devilsedge had a coyote come in to their calls a couple days ago. Makes sense that a bear would also come in to the call, same as they go for deer fawns etc.

Good thing it didn't charge because you would have just pissed him off with that turkey load...lol.

Well, at least you can say you got a reliable bear call.
 
Well i'd have run too if i were the bear!!! - Imagine the embarrasment of being caught being attracted to a turkey!

There's some real sick bears out there, that's all i can say...

Nothing wrong being attracted to a turkey......April's the season :D :D :D
 
Last year, I brought my duck calls out moose hunting. (Figured I'd bring them if I was hunting in a swamp area.)

Good tactic? Moose hears other wildlife and is less suspecting of anything.
 
Heh - i just had a nasty thought... Are the turkeys getting smarter?

Price of a bear suit - 100 dollars.

"bear movement" acting classes - 75 dollars

Look on hunters face... priceless.
