I decided no more 22lr ammo fo me

I get the Federal bulk packs at Walmart all the time.

I also buy the Dynapoints, and believe them to be a little more accurate (still testing that), but I like the federals better. The federal brass seems "squeaky clean" and shiny right out of the box.

Remington Rimfire ammo Sucks!

I was using their golden bullet HP and their target load on Sunday. Minimum of 1 misfire for every 10 round clip. We are not the only ones complaining

Winchester is no better.

I will be giving CCI's many types a try.

And for all you guys out there that say, "I never had a misfire", you are either lucky, or a liar!

I shoot a minimum of a box a weekend, every weekend. I shoot Remington or Winchester Target .22. I use Federal and Winchester (Xpert22 and Dynapoint) for plinking as well. I can count the number of duds I've had in the last year on one hand. I'm not a liar, so I must be lucky.

Edited to add: Throw in the occasional box of American Eagle for plinking as well, forgot about that.

Winchester no better??? Really? Wow, you are very unlucky. I have had great "luck" with dynapoints. Remington ammo I agree, sucks.

Perhaps your gun is also at fault, as most people really like the dynapoints, and I have never heard a complaint in the past. Comparing them to the Remington crap is almost insulting. :)

I thought that Walmart stopped selling the Federals and made a deal with Winchester. (most around Toronto don't sell any ammo)

I picked up several Remington bulk packs from Bass Pro, and am getting 10 failures per box.

The federals might give me 1 in 3 boxes.

Our dud tin at the range had mostly Remingtons in it when I cleaned it out last.

Members complaining about the Thuderbolts as well. Some are soft hits, but I usually run them back through a rifle that crushes the rim - plenty still fail.

I would say lack of primer.

Nope no bull about never having a misfire with 11 boxes of Federal Bulk 550 rounds in five months. Been on disability for the past half year and have tons of time to try out my model 41 with terrific results. Hard to believe but true. Touching wood as I write this.

Hi

I had a newly joined member of the gun club show up for her training. She had bought 7 boxes of Winchester Super X 40grn High velocity, 50rnds each. Should be better then anything bulk. But she averaged 1 misfire out of every 10 round mag also. Did to those missfires as I do to all, rotated them 180 and tried again. Most did not go off on the second try, nor the third.

I have been shooting for 27 years now, we never had this problem in the 80's.
I kind of miss IVI Imperial .22 ammo It worked pretty good.

Wow, then I am going to avoid the Winchester Super X, but that will not be a problem since I only buy bulk packs.

Walmart in my area (London, Ontario) still carries the Federal bulk pack, I just picked up two more a few days ago. I see them at all the Walmarts I go, including over in Hamilton, Windsor, Kitchener and Guelph. I hope they continue to stock them, as I really like the clean brass of the federal packs!

Ammo

Test this evening with Buckmark Target 5.5
Went through one pack of 50 each (40 for American Eagle).

Thunderbolts - ~1 jam per 10, some fired second time, some not at all.
CCI Subsonic - 1 jam per 50
CCI High Velocity - no jams
American Eagle - 2 per 50.

CCI Subsonic & CCI High Velocity at 20m seem same for accuracy. Eagle close, Thunderbolts not.

Cheers.

-Edit-> was able to diagnose the problem with a couple of the Remy Thunderbolts - no primer or powder.

Just back from walmart in Surrey, lots of winchester, no federal. Will try dynowhatever and three other of their varieties.

Wow, I'll consider myself lucky... I've shot many boxes of Wildcat, T22, AE, Federal bulk pack... without miss fire. The only time I need to discard a round, it's from a jam with the 10/22 where the bullet is actually croocked.

From my experience, miss-fire seems to happen in used gun, with either a dirty firing pin channel, a week firing pin spring and/or a worn firing pin.

Oddly enough, it only occurs in stricker fired gun. I don't ever recal having a missfire in the 9422, nor my father's 39...

For the M41, you might want to check your magazine feeding lips. Sometime the angle/spread will be slightly off. So the rounds has a little more friction going in the chamber and might not seat all the way...

Went through a couple boxes of Winchester HV copper plated. 1/10 misfired. Sent Winchester a pic of the boxes and (deep) pin strikes (cell phone pic), they send me $20 gift certificate - pretty descent. (the three boxes were about $7.50).

Went through the bulkpack of dynapoints, not the prettiest looking in terms of finish, think 2/500 misfed (was below freezing, could have been mag. or any other issue, feed misformed bullet), no misfires - $16 for 500 cant complain.
