Well, today I decided last minute after lunch to do some rimfire shooting here at the farm instead of the work that was waiting.

Instead of getting out one of my various expensive single shot rifles and expensive ammo I decided to get the following: Browning SA, Rossi pump, and Winchester 94/22 all with iron sights (says a lot about how hard I had to make my old eyes work).
Grabbed a bucket of Rem golden bullet and some tin cans. Took them to the backyard range and put them out at 50yds and did a bunch of afternoon plinking until the rain started around 4pm. My eyes were getting blurry and elbows and shoulders starting to ache anyway.

Took me back to my childhood with my father here on the farm and learning to shoot a 22 rifle and plinking. Actually Dad purchased that FN Belgian made Browning SA for me way back in the early 70s from a friend in exchange for some hay. He had purchased it new in the late 60s for his daughter and it was barely used. The Rossi came from the collection of our old friend who passed in 2000. The Winchester is in like new condition and was purchased on here back in '04 as mint with original box and paperwork.

:)

Hey CD,
That brings back memories. Been a long time since I had some fun just shooting at tin cans. Will need to add tgat to my list too. Take care, friend.

I got back to some rimfire this year too, shooting my gramps old Cooey 600, I had put a scope on it back when I was young and dumb, FYI, only the young part changed for me! But at least I wised up and took the scope off. I have a little swinger target that I set up at 25 and 50 yards, and dam that little rifle is accurate! Going to hit the woods this fall with my 22 and get some squirrels, get back to my roots.

Knocking over cans is what inspired my cgn handle...... Plinking cans with classic .22's is a great way to spend an afternoon!

Now this is what life is all about! A bad day at the range is better than a good day at work!
