Summer is coming to an end. The nights are getting cool. I can feel it, its coming soon. Hunting is just around the corner. My tags are here, a few new pieces of gear. I've been looking in the safe and deciding what is going to make it out to the field, blind and stand. Time to try out a few new toys this year.

Who else is getting excited? Whos taking a new toy into the field this year...gun or gear? Who's ready to hunt?

Can't wait !!! Been goin through all my stuff for the last couple weeks. Another 5 weeks till the deer opener but I'm leaving in a week for my annual fall bear hunt and I can't wait. Havin' a hard time sleeping already !!!

I have the itch year-round, starting about a week after hunting season ends. I'm planning and scheming all year about hunting season. I'll be taking a new Kimber Montana 7WSM w/ FX3 6x42 M1 elevation hunting this year, and maybe every other year, too. ;) I'll also be trying out some new camping gear, a new MSR backpacking water filter, and a new set of Columbia Timberline binoculars.

Dude, an itch that lasts that long could not be caused by hunting...you should see a doctor, theres probably a cream that they can prescribe.:D

Well, I agree, the itch is pretty much there all the time.
However, if it gets scratched, then it abates somewhat for a short while.
Got to do my first scratching on opening day [Aug 15]. :D
Hoping to scratch it more in early September on an Elk. w:h:
I love BC!! Eagleye.

I usually say this every year but this year I am going to try to get out more. Make a point of getting out with my hunting buddies for a day in the field or blind. Take the time to have some fun.

I took out my hunting pack yesterday, checked things out, loaded it up with ammo and a few other things then put it away for opening day. Put my goose calls in the shotgun case so I don't forget. My chessie was getting excited watching me practice calling yesterday.

Been trying to get out to the range all summer but things haven't worked out.

I'm going out scouting this weekend for a new camp site

I have been told a bunch of quaders decided to turn the site I've been using for the last 5 years into a big mud bog   :kickInTheNuts:

so now I have to find a new site that I can get my hunting trailer into and our of

I HATE quaders that just rip up every little watter puddle and turn the trails into a series of mud bogs  just going to ruin it for everyone when the greenies get the gov to ban all 4x4 except on designated trails.

Oh and I have a bull moose draw :D season opens Nov 1 and runs all month so if I have to I can hunt on the ice

well it was a good 3 days out in the bush.

My site usual site was chewed up in the spring but has dried out not bad so it is useable but there are huge patches of bare ground where it was all grass last year. :(

I did find a new road that leads to another site that I have been thinking of using so I may go out again and see what I can do to improve the second site, I may use it this fall.

Oh and I saw a nice big bull moose :D

I am definitely stoked for the season! Bear opens up in less than two weeks (bow), and the stand is all set up and bait is out. This will be my first bow hunt, so that just adds to the excitement! Once gun season starts, I'll most certainly be bringing out the new X-Bolt 30/06 (if I haven't already got my bear).

And yes... deer season is also coming; gonna have to do some scouting and set up during the next month as well. That season isn't till 23 Oct, but fast approaching! So much to do, but man; I am pumped!!!

My itch last's the entire year, but becomes intense once September arrives. Our Alberta and Saskatchewan accommadations have been booked for some time and gear ready to go for three weeks of whitetail hunting. I'll be using the Sako 85 Bavarian, 300 WSM where it hasen't killed a big whitetail buck. Purchased a Pair of Vortex HD 10x42 Vipers this past spring and will break them in this fall.

I had two white tail bucks in the field last week. A 4 and 3 point, I bet I won't see them again haha.

bought a winchester 2400 semi ready to go for oct 1st and just need new hunting boots, and any other little toys i can find. and as for deer bought a brand new savage axis 30-06 ready to go and sighted in. the itch is getting to much...lol

Definitely have a bad itch this year, got a moose tag this year. Two new toys to play with in 375 and 444, and my favorite sister is letting me use her new summer camp which is in fairly good deer country. Life is sweet!
