Thanks to some one in the EE I finally found a nice litle colt combat commander 9MM 1911. It shoot great and feels really good and solid in the hand. Nothing like my S&W M&P (don't get me wrong I like it but there is a difference, I like them both) Now all I need is someone to show me how to field strip it. It is a little diferent then my Kimber pro covert. My kimber I have to put a little alen key shaped thingy in the guide rod then slide the slide forward. Were the colt seems to have a little thumb print thing bellow the barrel that pushes it??? Any tips and anything I should watch out for?

If you have a full length guide rod and no bushing wrench, I use the butt end of a magazine to push the recoil spring plug in whilst turning the bushing with the other hand. That plug can hurt like a son-of-a-##### if it has a hole to allow the guide rod through and you have to pressure it in.

what did changes did you make to your grip safety?

It's just a "drop in" extended beaver tail grip safety. No frame modification required. Can quite easily change back to the short tang grip safety of the Colt commander models. The mainspring housing has been changed out for a flat profile "Pachmayr" as well. Again, can be easily changed back if needed.
