I FINALLY GOT MY TWO DEACTIVATED HANDGUNS BACK FROM THE GUNSMITH.

I bought my M1911A1 Colt rig from the son of the American vet that brought it back on March 27 2004. (It is quite a story!)
When I picked up the Colt from the vet's son's house the three magazines were loaded with 1941 dated cartridges.
The pistol was in an unlocked wooden chest.
The pistol was not registered---I managed to get it registered.

Why?

Wow what an incredible collection. I would love to see that. My father was really into war history. I always dreamed of owning and shooting a 1911 like that one. Incredible the condition that it is in. I pray to god these laws get reverted so I can own one some day.

If I could have even a fraction of a collection like this I would treasure it and document it until I die. I might have to move to the states in order to have any chance at that.

To the OP - at least you are caring for these things and sending them to a place where someone who cares about the history of them will buy them. It is terrible that they have to be deactivated ... but it's possible the freeze is never lifted and in that case when you pass they would be destroyed. That would be much worse. At least if they can be preserved in some way by people who care about them, that's something.

I love canadian law that you can own and display a dewat no problem but if you 3d print a plastic 1:1 scale model of same gun you magically become a criminal lol
