I went to Genesee today to sight in my and my son's rifles for a hunt on Rememberence day.

For a whole bunch of reasons my first shot since Nov 29th, 2008 with my 700 Ti 7mm SAUM was 2.5 inches high, dead centre at 100 yards.

My son's 30-06, two five shot groups each less than an inch with ammo I loaded two years ago.

Helped a couple of young inexperienced shooters get an ancient WW1 303 more or less sighted in.

DAMN I like shooting guns, the RECOIL felt good, I love little groups with hunting bullets. Today TSX's from the 30-06 and Nosler E-tips form the SAUM.

Fun afternoon.

Was it busy out there? Im heading out there tomorrow, haven't been shooting in like 4 weeks. Getting cabin fever here...

Martin,
sounds like you had a good day. The lay off from shooting likely made you really appreciate it. Shooting guns can be very satisfying. :)

sounds like a good day, im heading out to sight in my .300WM after i installed some new rings/bases, and a new 308 i got for my brother to join me on a hunting trip.

hoping for some tight groups!

Sounds like you had a better time sighting in that me and my father in law did today... not gonna say how many shots (ever) and we only hit the target 6 times. Its clear neither of us know how to sight in or properly use a scope =(

If my rifle had sights I'd throw this damn scope in the pooper lol..

Good on you, I know when I first started I needed a hand sighting in my Enfield too and a couple more experienced guys at the range gave me a hand.

Sight in was a bit of a chore, standard issue WW1 stock with a 4x older bushnell in extra high rings. I could barely get the bottom of my chin on the stock when looking througth the scope.

I was out on Sunday.. it was damn cold. The wind was blowing like crazy.... The road had dried up a bit, but I got really muddy going out there.... But, better then staying at home :D

It is tough to beat a good day at the range especially when the re-loads are shooting nice, it really boosts confidence for hunting season. I have to test out a few more re-loads soon, moose season is over but I am still trying to tweak the load performance out of my 300 wsm - hopefully Hybrid 100 V and 165 partitions and some .243 reloads will make my day.

The only think that beats load development and testing at the range is shooting that monster moose / buck with your reloads!

I like milsurp recoil, even from sporter-rifles.....:p...it's the "recoil of victory"...;)....(so long as you're shooting Allied weapons....:D)....
