Ok,

So... I've had for the longest time a firearm (shotgun) that had a very visible deep gouge in the aluminum receiver (2mm deep, 2mm long 3mm wide.) Ugly!

I sent this receiver off for a small fortune to the dealership/importer out East to see if anything could be done to fix it. Nothing could be done.

That is until now...

I was in Lordco the other day buying some Spray Paint + Carb Cleaner and I came across an awesome product: "Markal Valve Action Paint Marker".

I bought it for $6 and decided to give it a shot.
I am so glad I did... basically I just touched the scratched area every 5 hours for a couple days and built up the paint so that now it is flush with the receiver and vitually invisible. It dries glossy, but if you rub it when tacky it will be matt-finish.

I tested it on other firearms where there is wear, etc. and it rocks!

I just wanted to post since I know there are probably a few more people out there with nasty scratches which they'd like to mask :) (I remember reading a few posts).

~Cheers

Note to self... don't buy used guns from G37 ;)

haha.. it's just the shotgun that had the scratch ;) and I think I will be keeping it :D (the other guns was just to see if it matched finish - blend in ok; I was so surprised at how well it worked).

I am waiting for my 18.5" barrel and pistol grip stock... hehehe

Murdoc, you should put your website address in your signature line.

The color of Arma-Fill is white, it would need to be topcoated with a finish. Never compared it against JB weld, but our product is much thinner so you could use it on moving parts. It works well on rust pits and wood pores. As for it being around 2mils dry it can be used for filling in tooloing marks. As for strength like JB weld this is a filler not a glue so if you wanted to bond things together JB is probably better. here you go www.armacoat.net

Birchwood Casey sells paint pens in gloss and flat black, work very well and the flat black is perfect for AR15's.
