Back to the 495 fps thing. I bought a pellet gun a couple years ago from crappy tire, said 495 on the box, in the manual it said 650 fps lol.

Sudden compression vapourizes oils and lubricants in the piston and the heat generated ignites the vapours. Dieseling is normal to a certain extent and accounts for a percentage of a springers power, too much dieseling is bad and stresses the spring, or so I've read.

Made at 650 fps for american market and detuned to below 495 for canadian.
