I felt this o'l beast would be appreciated more here in milsurp (it has been retired for some time) so here it is.
I got to play with this beauty while visiting family back home across the pond. Absolutely wonderful rifle, accurate, unique and a joy to shoot!

Thanks much for the good clear pics! I've never seen much more than a couple of pics of those rifles, happy to have a better look at them.

They were full auto rifles were they not? (selector has 3 positions)

I read somewhere that when a man left the Swiss Army, they could buy their rifle but it would be converted to semi.

Is it chambered in 7.5 x 55 Swiss, same as Schmidt-Rubin?

Yes they were full auto. This one, like most, was blocked to semi only (indicated by the white square tab above the trigger guard on right side) when its owner retired from service and kept his rifle.
It fires 24 rounds of 7.5X55:D
Recoil is very manageable due to the straight line stock, buffer and weight of the rifle (12.5lbs). For target shooting it really helps to use the fold down winter trigger (lever alongside mag well) as it provides leverage and thus a very light trigger pull. The bolt is a work of art and very unique.

Prohibited, prohibited, prohibited, prohibited........ and all these f*&%^$# politicians keep telling me that I live in a Free Country! Might be free for THEM, but they are turning the rest of us into SERFS. Remember a serf was not a chattel and so could not be bought and sold. You didn't buy a serf; you bought the land he was sitting on and the serf was free to work it for you.

BEAUTIFUL rifle!

And GREAT photography! Were you using film or digital?

Thanks for the wonderful shots.
