I got a crazy idea for my lever gun.

You can by rail blanks, then drill appropriate holes for using your existing mount locations. You could also drill and tap a couple holes so that you could use the skinner peep with a set screw in your new custom rail.

Cool, if I can find the right rail, or make one, I’ll probably just use the front holes, then bed the rail with locktite bearing mount. I don’t want a scope on it, so a short section should be easiest and keep the rear sight, although I had consider a tang sight and full rail.

I say have fun w/it & give 'er a Go! As for that rifle pictured below, is pretty hideous BUT for only $449 right now at cabelas.ca Im considering it, if I can exchange at least the stock.{to a Reg style}.then take off the Flash hider, {its only a 16" barrel=what I like} & take off rail or 2...is still not bad for a Brand New.. 30/30-to Modify {back to Normal-ish} & play around with-

Why not just go this route?

I considered buying one of those and slapping on the normal black synthetic furniture, just to have a 30-30 with a brake on it! Lol yup, definitely going to hell! Jeeze! Are you guys classifying my rifle on appearance alone? Who else does that? Hmmmmm

do it!

don't let people crush your dreams!

I'm going to do an SVT-40M (modernized) using a plastic/polymer stock and update everything on it, but not bubba style.

Important note, I usually don't modify anything on the actual gun though, I try and fit parts by cutting/modifying them.

It begins. First the measurement. Cut twice measure once? Something like that anyways. Don’t suppose one of you purists has a standard 1895 forend kicking around? 9 5/8” I believe? Having trouble finding schematics. Mostly the width of the receiver “pocket” for the back of the forend, or the width of the back of the forend. Mine looks like 1-1/4”

A buddy of mine in Australia (where they are pretty much limited to lever actions if you want a fast repeater) designed his own one, which is going to be going into commercial production.

This is a photograph of the current prototype:

When it goes into production, we are looking at the possibility of bringing them into Canada, if there is enough interest.

Regards.

You guyz Krack me up.... and here I was thinking that I am such a Kommando with polymer furniture on my Marlin 30-30...

The most tactical item on my rig is the black parachute cord wrap on the big loop lever

That's a great idea. I'm going to do that on my 1895!

To the OP, JUST DO IT! I like when people with more skills than I try funky things.

Mine shoots great. I have the 1st Gen one with the different forend that has 3 x full-length rails. I covered them with rail covers and put 2 x handstops on the underside for a snug grip. Paracord wrapped the lever, tossed the ATI buttstock and added a Magpul CTR w/ cheek rest and extended buttpad and removed the green zombie logo on the receiver.
