I finally bought a new mill drill the one with the dove tail column my brother and law and I had it up and going last night it works great even with 1 inch end mills no chatter.
I will finally be able to finish some of my gun projects that were on the back burner.

Jim I got it from Pyramid tools in calgary it's a taiwan made it's made by Rong Fu It has a square cast column with dovetails instead of a pipe and is a gear head drive 1 1/2 hp 32"x 9 1/2" table .

Thanks, coyote.

That square column sounds like it would be good and rigid, as opposed to the more-common pipe style.

Good for you lad :)

Buckbrush thanks for letting me know about those mills had I not known about the dovetailed columns I was going to buy the one with the round one .
What I like about this is the tilting head and you can go up and down on the column without having to dial in your cutter, they are more expensive than the round column ones but they are worth the extra money they are like a real mill good size table and the square cast column ads stiffness no chatter so far even with a 3 inch face mill no problem.A friend of mine had a mill drill with round column that I got to try last year it worked good on light stuff but it does not compare to this one .
