i got my Marlin 1895 GBL back today

Experienced the before and after of a Happy Trigger on a Marlin 308 Express, basically night and day! Breaks like glass at about 3 lbs, zero creep. The original was bloody awful! Change up worth every penny!
 
About 10 years ago I bought a guide gun
There was lots of talk here re the improvements on these guns, such as listed by the OP
And a better recoil pad
The was a "smith" from central BC well know for doing these upgrades
So I sent the gun to him

On the ejector upgrade i backed off after discussion with him
I forget his reasons
I did say the guns intended use was not going to be Africa or the big bears
Just elk, moose under 125 yards
So I would not be loading to the max

Now that we have a decade of additional field experience...
What is the advantage of the bear proof ejector?

Not much...... It provides slightly stronger ejection, the "reliability" aspect of it stems from it being a single piece unit, rather than the factory 2 piece.
 
I did the trigger kit and ejector to mine as well, also installed a decelerator pad. The trigger is awesome, the ejector is stiffer and I noticed it's extra spring pressure on the bolt when the action was cycled. I also installed the XS rail so the longer eye relief scope had a place to go. Still haven't got around to deburring the action. Probably 250 rounds through it now, seems to be smoother. Still one of my favourite rifles.
 
The Happy Trigger is a perfect solution to any Marlin lever that has a typically gritty and/or creeping trigger. They break like glass at about three pounds, and does wonders to improve accuracy. Can't say enough good stuff about them!
 
Well an update on my marlin 1895 gbl. I've put about 100 rounds down the tube and it amazing. The trigger is smooth. The bear proof ejector is not that expensive so mostly peace of mind of being reliable instead of the two piece that Marlin uses. I love this gun shoots pretty accurate around 1 inch groups @75 yards with the Xs ghost sights.


The only thing now I wish I got the SBL. I think I'm going to have the gun coated. Which product would you recommend gun kote for cerakote
 
I love my happy trigger kit it's well worth the money. After talking to my gun Smith some years ago about the bear proof ejector he made the statement "a solution in search of a problem"and that in 40 years of smithing he had never replaced a marlin ejector . Now after 20 years of shooting my used 1978 marlin I've had no problems with the factory ejector so I have to agree with him...
Anyone out there ever have a factory marlin ejector fail?? Cowboy action shooters??
I guess if I had one fail this is what I'd replace It with but I'm kinda curious about the failure rate of the factory units..
 
I have several Marlin Lever guns, some from the 1800's and some recent manufacture and have never had a fail to extract/eject issue, ...never ever.... and a couple of the the modern guns have fired 10's of thousands of rounds each.
