Speeking of Savages, a friend of mine on this site (gone country) pointed out the savage 11/111g to me. Its a little more but i think i would like it better. Any ideas on this gun? It also shows in the sir catalogue that it comes in .308. 30-06 vs .308?

I look at the .308 vs the .30-06 one way. Bullet weight. Both will handle 150's and 180's, but I like the .308 with 150 grain bullets and the '06 with 180's. Either way, you've got a good cartridge.

The 111G comes in many more cartridges then the .308.

Heres the list

111G: 270 Win, 30-06 Spfld, 7mm Rem Mag, 300 Win Mag.

11G: 223 Rem, 22-250 Rem, 243 Win, 7mm-08 Rem, 308 Win, 270 WSM, 300 WSM.

Choices, Choices!

Try wholesalesports.

i was thinking of getting either .308 or 30-06 just because they seem to be more popular in my location. Also the ammo is very easys to find.(not to say the other cartridges are impossible to find).

Buy .30-06 if it's a long action or a .308 only if it's a short action.
????????????????? That tells him nothing:slap:

Yes .30-06's are long actions and .308's are short actions.

And some rifles are long actions pinned to use short action cartridges like the Tikka that gth mentions in post #38

welcome to gunutz Rebel, man theres a lot of folks from yarmouth/NS here LOL, my family is all in yarmouth i was until my wife's mom got sick. you know either of these 2 family names : Chatelois, Parker ?

anyway if your on a tight budget a stevens 200 is defintly an excellent rifle i have one in .300 win mag bought it new for $400 and put it in a $150 choate ultimate sniper stock with a tasco scope and on a good day where i aint got the shakes i can hold .75 at 100yrds should be able to get tighter once i switch the factory pencil barrel to the heavy barrel i am waiting on from pac nor, as for the tupperware you can always swap out to a wooden stock off a savage 10/110 or go with a fancy synthetic $$$$$$.

there are a coupel of users here with them for sale and i beleive Mystic can vouch for its acuraccy as he uses them to compete and such
