I guess I need a 7x57.... Suggestions requested.

I was cleaning up the loading room and discovered I still have a bunch of new 7x57 brass from when I had a Ruger #1rsi in 7x57.... too much brass to ignore. Typically I am a stainless/synthetic guy but I have all my bases covered in that department. So my options are open

Maybe a:
-Brno 21h, or 22f
-Steyr mannlicher luxus
-Ruger m77-Mark II rsi
(Or if you have other suggestions for other nice 7x57's)

*not interested in lower grade stuff like the zastava please.

You're seeking a 22F from circa 1950. The F's are hard to find, the 21H, with the half stock should turn up for around $1,000.

Just googled it, beautiful rifle. What would one expect to pay for a 22f up here?

Also do these brno's have a hinged floor plate or ?

Good luck finding a M77 MKII RSI... I just sold an M77 Tang RSI in 7X57, and currently am shooting an M77-R MKII 7X57... I prefer the RSI'S chambered for short action cartridges... but the 22" barreled R is a fine and well balanced rifle. I have a matching Roberts and 6mm Rem in R models also. I have a second M77 MKII 7X57 rifle awaiting coversion to "7.62X57 Medium."

If you can find an M77 MKII in 7X57 regardless of version, I would say "jump on it," it is not a decision that you would regret.
 
Yes, somewhere over $1200 for a good 22F. they are worth it, the best balanced and most graceful of any of the full stock rifles that I have handled. The half stock rifles are very good too, and about $100 - $200 less in most cases.

It's IMOP the classiest rifle available in a euro cartridge.........

And I must admit you turned me to the dark side (just a little) with the Roberts..... hence the 77/22 rsi on its way......
 
The Ruger 77 might be half the rifle the Brno is. That's lieke comparing a Yugo mauser to a German mauser.
 
No, the floor plates are not hinged.
There is a recessed hole at the rear of the bottom metal that
the old folks used the bullet to push up the locking pin.
Once the pin/button/whatchamahkawlit is released, the bottom metal
slides back toward the trigger guard and gets removed.
Bottom metal, spring and follower.
I've taken the pin spring out and replaced it with a lighter one.
Makes for easier handling.

Dizz izz whut I know.
 
A friend has a full wood Brno but :( after a long unsuccessful attempt to 'adopt' it, I decided to settle for an 'inexpensive' Zastava. I have two full wood Zastavas and while they lack a lot of the finer points of quality other makes have, :) they do shoot. Shortly after purchasing the Zastava, I lucked out and was able to acquire a Lipsey RSI Ruger M77 Hawkeye 7x57 from hoytcanon :d:d . IMO, a good choice for Vancouver Island Blacktail, starting next season.

I don't quite agree with that comparison.
The Brno is a better rifle but the Ruger is no Yugo mauser

True....the Yugo is all milled by skilled craftsmen, while the Ruger is mostly investment cast and finished with worn out tooling lol.
So it's not quite up to a Yugo mauser in quality.

OP, find a Win M70 FW in 7x57 and you will be set. Or build one off a HVA 98 or 1600 action if you want custom.
