I will have a three day layover in Buenos Aires this February and am hoping to take advantage of it to go on a hunt.

Options:

1. Big game like Blackbuck. (Bolt action, spot and stalk)
2. Dust off my hog knife and get another wild boar. (Me, dogs and 9" of steel)
3. See if my shoulder can handle 1500 rounds in a day shooting doves. (Probably a nicer shotgun than I am used to and some poor sucker reloading madly to keep up with me) :p

I'm torn. I'm also spoiled to be stuck with a tough decision like this, but a guy has to have some fun! ;)

Thoughts/comments/advice?

I think I would go for the doves..looks like blast:D..are you going to be there at the right time? do this for a day then shoot a Blackbuck.

My "trip of a lifetime" will hopefully be to Argentina, going to take a crack at water buffalo, hogs, red stag and Blackbuck. I also want to experience there waterfowling.

If I only had three days I would go for doves.

doves, lots of ducks in La Plata. Deer in March and April. You can take your gun with you, it is quite simple just nothing para military.
Go Argentina is Super, when you are in Buenos don't forget to buy pair off tall riding boots good prices plus leather is fantastic

I went down there in April, for buffalo, redstag, blackbuck, pig and doves. I liked the buffalo the most, stalking roaring stags was fun, and the doves are a riot. With only 3 days to play, the doves might be the easiest to set up. 20 gauge gas guns will go a long ways to keeping you going.

There was a huge post on ARfcom awhile back about Dove hunting over there. One guy shot over 5000 birds in one day. Talked alot about where to go and avoiding the bad areas and getting robbed in the hills.

I've dreamed of a dove hunt for a couple years, but anything listed would be a blast!

 I either need to get a better paying job or marry a sugar momma in order to do the hunting on my bucket list.

Assuming a 12 hour day, that's 7 birds a minute, non-stop.

The pictures he postd the air was very dense and thick with them. There were local kids who picked them all up and they got eaten and counted.

Assuming 4oz's per bird, that's over 1200lbs - the size of a good moose. And over 3000lbs of ammunition. I'd like to see the logistics involved in getting a group of 5 guys in and out of the field.

Not that it's impossible, but you have to admit the numbers are a little crazy.

I had no idea doves would be such a favorite! I have bookmarked a few outfitters and now will have to see what they offer for packages. The timing is right before harvest season so that should be good. The search continues...... ;)

I think it was him and his wife and a couple of others. I recall he was bragging that he was using some soft shooting Beretta semi.

Found it, here is the link, the 5000 total was over a few days. Anyways its an interesting thread
