Hey Folks,

Just a quick question,

I have now seen these TAPCO, composite 20 rnd. mags...they look like they have some sort of part on them that would allow for them to replace a regular FIXED 10 rnd. hinged mag that comes on an SKS....IS THIS CORRECT?

Does anyone have any experience with these mags?....are they worth the money?.....Do they need any work to attach or use them?

Aternately, I have heard that there is a 20 rnd. "star" hinged mag....are these available or worth the time?....

I appreciate your input here....

Thanks folks,

Smoke and Fire

I completely understand that...and I agree....HOWEVER, with the addition of the Scopes onto two of our SKS's, accessing the stripperclip guides is impossible without removing the whole scope / mount.....

Certainly hand loading rounds one at a time SUCKS!.......I was looking at the 5/20 TAPCOS for the express reason of being able to load a mag or two and release it when empty and load in another........

I was simply looking for ACTUAL instal info...are they complicated to put in / on.....are they worth the coin?...

I understand the availability and costing for them....not an issue...just looking for INFO

DO they feed well?,

Release / hold issues into the mag well?

Do you need a special mag release catch?

Thanks,

That's good. I was wondering this just this morning. I bought a Norc SKS with the ATI Dragunov stock and I'd like a 5 rnd detachable mag. I emailed SKS Man about the Zytel magazines but haven't heard back yet.

Yes, the part that looks like a duckbill hooks in front and the magazine catch holds the mag at the rear, just like the original.

I only bought the Tapcos for the Look Cool Factor, and that made it worth the money. On my Russian 56 Tula with solid birch stock, I only had to shave off approximately 1 mm from both sides of the magazine well. I can use stripper clips to load, as well.

No experience with them, sorry

I wanted the Tapco 20rd mags for a long time and when I finally got them, I was disappointed. Switched back to the stock 10rd fixed mag and sold the Tapco mags off.

You'll either love 'em or hate 'em. Give them a try if you can find them for a reasonable price.
