Since CGN is the closest thing I have to a support group (I don't think the real shrinks are 'right' enough to understand let alone dispense advice) I have to say I know already I DO have a Winchester problem.....sheesh.

Long story short, found a Win Model 64, bought, it, then was suprised and shown an 1873 in 38WCF, bought that, and then next day got a 1894 SRC 32WS, bought that. I already have a 73 in 38, already have a 94 in 32WS (this is an upgrade from what I had) and I don't really need a 64, but it was different and nice...

I have to sell my other 94 32WS but now can't seem to find the energy to part with it, but I need to recoup some of the costs of this 'binge'. The wife doesn't even know the whole scoop, yet.

I have to be practical as opposed to emotional, anyone got a kick of reality I can have, or am I going to hear that its ok and find out we're all in the same boat????

Oh m'eye, m'eye.......
Now you know why it's called Gunnutzzzzz, yup addicting as h$$$ll.
I've got the bite as well.
Lockers are all full.
Need more lockerssssss.
And the flipping firearms just keep coming.
One in the mail as we speak.
They are nothing more than "investments"
If you kept buying your wife diamonds, would she complain?
Consider these diamonds that you are buying are from your wife.
Who needs a shrink when you're talking about firearms.
Enjoy.
Investments eye say.............

It's called leveritus no known cure. Don't feel bad lots of people have it. (myself included) Usually by trading , selling or swapping you can keep it under control, but it is not easy. We're pulling for ya.

I have the same problem but mine is with just firearms in general. I bought 3 more yesterday morning and another 3 last week. My plan was to buy/fix/sell but I like them so much so now I am holding on to them. I think in the past month and a half I have bought 10 firearms. My locker is starting to get awful full. At least it is not a bad habit.

I knew I wasn't going to get any stern talking-to's here :p

I have to trade a couple off to 'maintain the balance' but am having pre-partem depression and trouble.

I am up to just about 20 Winchesters and that doesn't include the other stuff....

So much variety in the gun world that its simply not practical to really keep yourself 'managed'.

Life is very short and can change overnight. If you enjoy it and it is not impacting the household . DO IT.
My Mama of 32 years made a deal with me at the start. No money for guns or toys comes out of the household pays etc.
However extra from overtime, doing other work etc is for that.
Like the others I have two guns in the mail as we speak, sold off maybe 8 this year and replaced them with 12 different ones.:D:D
I don't sell to upgrade and moved some real nice ones that I just didnot see me shooting in the future

So, you being an addict, you come to other addicts for help? :runaway:

Welcome to our world. :D

Haha, yea, yea, get support from people with similar problems. It must be a subconscious rationalization to validate that all is well.

# of Firearms = N+1
Where N = the #firearms you own right now.

Well now I am no arithmetic type a guy, but by this math, I am always behind by one.......

It happens..., but you wind up trying to improve the quality of the ones you have and selling off the ones of lower quality you had previously. At least that is where I find myself now.

Yes, this is the principle, but the practice doesn't seem to be going the same way :p

I think i'm feeling better already. One can always take comfort in the fact that there are others suffering the same fate.

Hah, I decided that by the time I am 50, I would like to have a Marlin lever in every caliber made.
Good thing is I've got 30 years. I found out it is prudent to work my a$$ off in the summer so I can buy guns when I am young and live at home..

Don't worry. They are really an investment and you will not lose money if you buy intelligently. Once you get a fair number of examples you begin to sell or trade up for more pristine condition examples. I wish I could extend a ray of hope but I'm sorry to tell you, YOU ARE LOST. Join the club, it's a big one.

Bwa ha ha ha! Oh sorry, was that my outside voice? Uh, yeah, good investment, yeah, that's it. Not in Canada you say, pity. Lots of folks had "good investments that are now worth peanuts because of the government. Never buy a gun as an investment. Yes, I know, we've all told that one to the wife, and every once in a while it comes true, but generally, you buy you lose. - dan

I appreciate all the comments, thanks for the support guys :slap: haha

In regards to the investment comments, I think they are, but like with any stock market, you have to keep your ear pretty close to the ground to ensure you make the payoff, you never know when the 'market' will change and your stock becomes worthless and makes you a criminal overnight....

This problem is easy to solve:
Step One: let the wife know what you did and how much you spent
Step Two: bask in the full fury of the wife
Step Three: The trauma of what you have just experienced will permanently cure you of further binges ..... well, maybe.

:D Been there done that, still have the scars, still have the problem.

And you! You don't help 38-55, what with your nice Winchesters and antique guns and calendars and.....stuff. Its friends like you who just make it more enjoyable.

Well, if a fellow can't kick the habit, then he might as well make it enjoyable for himself and for others!:D
