How do you like your SR22 after a few months ? There appears to be many negative posts on the net about this gun .
Still love it. The only complain I have is that after I got used to teh Glock17 this gun feels a bit small but still ok with the mag changed to the one that I can put my pinky (2 came with the gun free with the 2 mags). DA trigger is actually pretty good compare to DA revolvers.
When I bought it the biggest negative aspects I found are
1) the older gen take down lever break in some cases. Between my son and I we must have put in around 2k rounds in it and not an issue. I did upgrade the guide rod to the titanium one with a 1/2 lb stronger (4.5 compare to 4 factory) spring that came with the rod.
2) some claim that it doesn't like some 22lr ammo but I only shot CCI mini-mag.
3) The de-cocker design is reversed. It will take some time to get used to it. If you don't have a heavy 1911 or CZ shadow background you should be fine. I know someone got rid of it because of that.
4) Some ppl also don't like the mag disconnect. We only use it as range gun in Canada so I think it is a good thing. More safety features for my son the better I feel. There are some reporting the disconnect caused some error even the mag is inserted. The fix is as simple as slightly bending the disconnect bar. Never had this problem on mine.
We shoot 40gr CCI mini-mags. Same rate of FTF, FTE like my Ruger 22/45 lite and definitely *way* less FTF, FTE compare to my Tactical Solution 22lr Glock 17 mod slide so to me it is running pretty ok.
Cleaning with a rod is kinda tricky compare to my other 22lr pistols as I cannot take out the barrel so I have to do the rod through the trigger group. I never tried to take out the main roll-pin to completely trip the gun. It is one of those hallow roll pin so it feels very tight against the frame. I have a backup re-enforced 3rd party take down lever ready just in case the rumor of the takedown lever is true. But I check it every clean and there is not signs of wear or crack.
I am keeping mine. My son has smaller hand and he felt more comfortable using it instead of my 22/45 Lite or Glock conversion. Hope this helps.
