Note that 62% of people take most of their deer under 100 yards, not 62% of deer are shot under 100 yards. Not that this is what you are saying...
In this situation, take and shoot are the same thing are they not?
Most were 100-150, which is strange given that I am in Southern AB which allows for much longer shots. I think the reason for the shortened range is that I have hunted mostly mule deer in coulees, where shots tend to be a bit shorter.
Take and shoot may be the same thing, but the deer aren't necessarily evenly distributed between hunters. One hunter may take one deer at 50 yards this season. Another hunter a couple provinces over may not have hung any of his 9 tags on anything closer than 500. Is the average distance now 275 yards or 455 yards?
