Hi Folks,

I'm looking to buy a Ruger GP 100 before the elections are called and my rights taken away. (Maybe) I've checked out a bunch of dealers and will continue to check out our sponsors and the EE. Just wondering if anyone knows of any new #1707 KGP-161 available.

I hate to burst your bubble, but your firearms and rights will be violated regardless of whether or not you already own a specific firearm or particular class of firearm. Being "grandfathered" isn't a right, its a privilege.

Your not bursting my bubble. I agree with you and have long recognized that. But if grandfathered is the only choice I have then it is better than nothing. Thanks for not answering my question.

Grandfathering won't be a choice, that's my point. I'm curious, why a Gp100? Is it just a model you've wanted, or would another model work for you?

I would prefer the GP 100 due to low cost and very high durability. I am considering that in a pinch if left with no other options a 686 or a Superblackhaw in .44 mag.

My must haves:

1. Revolver
2. Stainless steel

My nice to haves:

1. .357
2. Nice grips (like the S&W and the new rugers)

GP100's are nice... I'd get a stainless SuperBlackhawk though (hey, you're going revolver, might as well go big).

I assume you checked Wholesale Sports?

That is my third choice if I can't get .357.

I love 44 mag, but it is just a little hard on me when I do a lot of shooting. I like .357 and 45 ACP the best. But I gotta start somewhere. As money becomes available, I'll probably end up getting .357, .45, .44, .22 and .9mm in that order.

you can calm the 44 mag down by using special-equivilent loads- that is special loads in magnum cases, or just straight 44 specials- just remember to clean out the crud ring when using the shorter case

What T-star said :)

I'd definitely be reloading for .44magnum... actually a SuperBlackHawk is also on my next to buy list (or a 7.5" AR) :D.

Thanks for the help folks. I just bought my GP100 on the EE from a fellow CGNer. Now nothing is left but the paperwork. YAY for me!
