Hi guys
Do I have to many enfields?
Left to Right
1. CAI Remington P14
2. 1950 CNo4Mk1* (She belongs to the Queen though)
3. 1941 Lithgow (CAI Marked) mint bore
4. 1943 Lithgow (Australian Army Cadets) Mint
5. 1943 No4Mk1 Churchill Rifle with PH5C As New
6. 1946 No7Mk1 with transit case As New
7. 1919 BSA Cdn marked SMLE Sporter Good Truck Gun
8. M17 Enfield .375 H&H Magnum KAPOW!

Can never have too many Enfields, I probably have 40 or more and I don't have all the ones I want.
Just acquired a Long Lee-Enfield No1 Mk1 in minty condition and have been looking for one in that condition that I could afford for 20 years.
The only one I never had was the Later Sniper mldel like the Envoy.

I would like a better C No4 but I will keep the example I have.

The Rifle, Short Magazine Lee enfield is just that, a shortened and modified version of the Long Lee.
The Rifle, No4Mk1 was designed much later. (1930's)
About the only thing they have in common is that they are .303 bolt action rifles. The only thing that will interchange between the two is the sling.

Look at the picture. The second on the left is a number 4 Lee Enfield (with canvas around the receiver). The two next to that, moving right, are SMLE's. Do you see the differences?

It's "No. 4" not Mk. 4.

Top to bottom:

I thought you had more, But I must say the ones you have are nice, real nice.

If they need to socalize with a herd of other enfields you can just send them down to me :D perhaps I can breed them into my herd.
 
I have a touch of carbine fever...so I know someday I will have to get a #5, but I will say this...the original hockey puck buttpad is being taken off, and put away in my gunsafe, and a better modern one is going in it's place. :D
 
It makes perfect sense, and it's something you never really notice unless you take a good look...I always just assumed they were all the same.

But yeah...even the sighting systems are in completely different spots...

I can't believe I never saw it...it's so obvious. :rolleyes:

When I do finally get around to buying some .303's, what should I be shooting with? I'm not an incredible shot, so I doubt I'd see any performance increases with the No. 4 over the No. 5. Is the jungle carbine a lot easier to shoot than the No. 4? Recoil a bit much I'm thinking?
