I HUNTED a Wolf

are wolves a nusicance animal where you are?
Just wondering why you shoot them, are they over populated?
Yes I hunt and yes I enjoy it. Just thought I would say that before you chimed in with " you probably don't hunt, blah blah blah"

There is no shortage of wolves in the west, you dont' even need a tag in BC (or Alberta, I think) so the question is probably more "why NOT hunt them?"

Man, I love how people who don't hunt any place beyond their province = the same as their home, not everyone can walk from one stand to their next. Nice Wolf! I am hoping to get one... if I ever see one (6+ years of hunting and nema so far). Wolves are elusive and hard to hunt animals if I ever get an opportunity shot at one you darn right I would take it.

thats a fine lookin dog.
a good predator takes what he can get when he can get it-nicely done!

Listen It is a hell of a nice wolf and it sounds like you made a great shot.
But the title of your thread says that you HUNTED a wolf, But I fail to see how driving down the road looking for deer and happening to see a pack of wolves and getting a quick poke at one gives you the claim of hunting a wolf.
Thats all.

I figured the title was do to the other recent wolf thread titled "I was hunted by a wolf"
but thats just how it struck me...

wolves can be a pain in the arse...and wallet if you have stock or a trap line...or hunt. The elk are all but gone around here and you get wolves when you call elk...coincidence?

Wolf populations in Alberta (with a couple of very localized areas such as the Bow Valley near Banff/Lake Louise) are very healthy.

Wolves eat an awful lot of moose, elk and deer; reason enough to shoot them IMO.

The fur makes beautiful rugs or other things if in good shape. I think a pair of wolfskin mitts would be awesome.

Wolves and coyotes are a real issue in Ontario as well. We're seeing very few deer but Yesterdays opening for deer I shot one coyote with the slug gun and my dad took one with a muzzleloader.... Keep shooting 'em and congradulations on the nice shot!

I shot a smaller wolf than yours. I was impressed with the teeth...

But the BEST thing you did was to give the surviving wolves a very memorable lesson in that MAN is to be FEARED and AVOIDED at all times! You very well may have saved somebody from a mauling/death.

All votes in for the cutest hunting pic yet this year. That is a great one. :)

Congrats on the wolf. We were in 318 Sunday and saw only four whitetail deer but 40 feral horses, if those wolves need to eat I hope they start to eating them. To find my wife a non trophy mule deer looks to be more of a challenge than I first thought.
We've heard wolves many times out there and Nugget got a go at them once but it didn't pan out. Good to see you got one now go get the rest.

Hey, Her toque doesn't say Knuckles welding does it?
