I joined the Glock G20 (Gen4) Club!

Good job on the 20!! I have one and it wasy first pistol as well. I can't give it up now as the wide grip is what I love....

Anyway, get some Starline brass ASAP, and start reloading. First it's much cheaper. Second you can actually shoot what the 10 is made for. All the factory stuff I've tried is basically 10mm Light. It's loaded to .40 levels. It doesn't make you smile once you shoot real 10 loads. The Dillon advice is good, but not needed unless you shoot a lot. Even a Lee Turret is good if you like most normal shooters do. I can do 250 to 300 only turret in an hour. That's enough for most guys. And you can get started for way cheaper.

Feel free to private me if you want startup loading advice for the 10. I wish someone would have given me good advice right at the beginning.

K Older gen glocks had very poorly supported chambers. This is now a myth that just keeps on being perpetrated by people who really don't know what they speak to. All newer generations of glocks have fully supported chambers and can take the hottest loads you can make. Yes a match grade lone wolf barrel will give you better performance and accuracy. This is a proven point, but the original barrel is fully supported. Get you facts straight.

Do you always disagree with people in such an abrasive manner? I'd hate to think what kind of image you give to non-firearm people about us when having discussions with them.

Brass ejected from my G20 shot with a factory barrel have the Glock "smiley" on them. There is some slop in the G20 chamber as you can wiggle the round around in there but this aids in the feeding an extraction process. I imaging this is the same reasoning behind looser tolerances in an AK rifle, reliability (also when they tell you the Glock is designed to be a combat/service/self defense pistol first and foremost, they're not lying. However, it will put the lead on the target and if it's not pin point, it's close). My hot 10mm loads used to come out with slightly bulged cases as well. You can take or leave my experiences for what they're worth - I couldn't care less.

What you say is somewhat true, in that they are more supported than earlier versions. I've measured them side by side with older versions of G20s and with another 10mm barrel (I think it was a Tanforglio...not sure) and whereas the differences are less obvious with the Gen4 than with the older ones, they are still there. And their chamber is slightly larger as previously stated. My hands and face are worth the few hundred dollars.

Just ordered my first glock as well. Glock 17 gen 4...

Another cgner was kind enough to share this link with me, so I will pay it forward to you as well!

Seems like they have everything aftermarket for your glock. My pistol isn't even here yet and I've already ordered steel sights and a few other doo-dads that I know I am going to want. I think they have your wolf barrels as well.

Happy glocking!

I've ordered from them several times without a problem.. last time was a mag well extension for $30.00 really helped stabilize my grip

Thank you to everyone for the tips. Hopefully it'll be in my hands soon, they just have to clear it with the authorities and I'm good.

I'm definitely going to save all my brass to use as future donors for the day I do finally get into reloading. I'm saving all my brass now already (30-06, 5.56) knowing that I was going to take the step at some point, so now I'll just have one more bin.

I originally picked up several boxes of Remington UMC 10mm from LeBaron in Mtl when I first got the gun. Don't know if they have any left, but I suppose you can always call and ask.

Thanks for the tip bud, I too bought some at LeBaron a few years ago and they still carry the UMC today. I'm mainly looking for Win Silvertips 175gr, I used to have a source for them a while ago but it's now drier than the Sahara desert... They have quite a bit more oomph compared to the UMC's, 1290fps & 649ft-lb vs. 1150fps & 529ft-lb. The UMC is not that bad compared to federal ammo or the famous FBI load witch is basically a 10mm loaded to short & weak velocity. But I loved how the Silvertips performed out of my S&W's.---I know, I shoudn't have sold my reloading kit!---

I prefer the Norma 10mm, but I haven't seen any in quite a while. Hand loading is really the only viable option. - dan

Not to hijack the OPs thread, but do you guys remember the load data you used? Or in HCs case...an approximation of the Win SilverTips load? IF you have them.

I am very thankful to PoliceOrdnance.com for them offering LE and Mil discounts, but unfortunately they are sold out of many common Gen4 styles. They've been sold out of the G17 and G22 for a while, but they still had G20, G34, and G35. I was initially going to go with the G34 because I thought 10mm ammo was impossible to find, but they just sold out of G34 at the same time I found a store near me that had a lot of 10mm left. I just sent in my payment on the Gen4 G20 (I won't mention what I paid including tax and Trijicon HD night sights, but I am now super Glock loyal). This will be the first pistol I've ever owned. I've shot the issued Browning 9mm a lot, but I am very excited to get into the world of 10mm. If anyone has any tips for Glock ownership, I am a total newb and would appreciate any advice, thank you.

Well done. I've had the pleasure of trying a friend's Glock 20 and I had to say I was impressed. Accuracy was excellent, and it was surprisingly soft shooting in that chambering. More of a solid push than a snap like .40S&W.

The hornady seems to hit the middle ground as well at 550 ft.lbs (180gr at 1180 ft/s). Nothing in Canada seems to compare to the offerings from buffalobore or corbon.

the hornady is not 'that' hard to find. Up until recently SFRC had a bunch, but I suppose it could be a long time before more shows up.

Norma was the first ammo manuf. to bring the 10mm to life in 1983 (11 yrs after being developed out of a customized BHP by Whit Collins & Jeff Cooper in 1972 .40 G&A) with their two "famous" 180 JHP & 200gr FMJ super hot load. That was two years after the introduction of the D&D Bren Ten that the round finally came to reality, both D&D and Norma worked toghether to make it happen. The last lot of Norma ammo was manufactured somewhere in the late 90's

If any factory Norma 10mm ammo is left somewhere, it would be worth a lot. (I've seen a factory box of 50 rounds of Win. Black Talon 10mm sell for over $200 on gunbroker recently)!

I have also just purchased a Glock 20. So far it's had 200 rounds through it and I'm pretty happy with it and have 197 empty casings to eventually reload. I bought 500 rounds Remington UMC ammo because it was the hottest I could find. Guess I'll be buying a turret press. I have noticed a slight bulge in the spent brass but assumed it was normal because the spent 40 s&w brass laying around at my range carry the same bulge. Anyone else have this experience?
I originally bought my 20 with the intention of acquiring a .40 conversion barrel so I can run cheaper factory ammo. Any help on where I can purchase one would be much appreciated. Thanks

May I ask how much those 500 rounds of UMC cost?

If you plan on getting a better barrel in 40 or even 10mm and you plan on reloading then your going to need a bulge buster kit to remove the bulge from the brass. On the aftermarket barrels they have much tighter tolerances and you will have trouble cycling the brass through it.

$300. I would've preferred $250 but whadda ya do? From all the dealers I talked to when trying to purchase my 20, it seems 10mm is becoming a more popular choice lately. Hopefully ammo prices start to reflect it in a good way.

Yes 10mms do seem to be getting a little more popular and a few (like STI) are coming out with new 10mm variants. The day Glock makes the 10mm with a 5.32" (like the model 34, 35 and 41) will probably be the day I by my first Glock.

From what I have researched, the G20 (ie the 10mm round) is already pushing the boundaries of what was previously thought impossible by standard length pistols. I have not proven this myself, but many people are saying they are achieving reliable 75-100m performance, which is makes the pistol/ammo far better shooting than I am with a pistol.

Hmm. Bulge buster kit??
I know lone wolf makes a .40 conversion barrel. Having trouble finding one though.

Jawsman, I've never hard this about factory glock barrels, and I don't doubt it. I know how negative BS recirculates the web, obscuring any updated information.
Any idea what year, model or serial numbers have the supported chamber? Will my 3rd gen g20 have this chamber?

And to the OP, reloading for your purpose is very very simple and it is well worth it. If you an to shoot any volume it will pay for itself in no time. I don't know what you pay out there but in BC about the only thing I can find is American Eagle and occasionally Remington. Prices range from $38-$55 per box of 50. Not only is that outrageous, but the ammunition is downloaded to the exact same velocity as their .40s&w loads which cost half as much.
So why pay 2x as much to shoot downloaded ammo?

For $35 I get enough powder for 833 loads. 4.2c ea
$70 for 500 200gr fmj bullets. 14c ea
$35 for 1000 primers. 3.5c ea

Total cost of a reload 21.7cents each Vs 76c for a $38 box or $1.10 each at $55 box.
Not to mention your now shooting full loads.

Can someone please explain what this guy means my "operator error"??? The guy loads up five rounds for a demo shoot, and has a stoppage (FFD to 55 seconds). WTF?

Why in the hell would someone intentionally upload a demo for a product that shows a stoppage, instead of filimng another take? More importantly, what caused that stoppage? This is potentially my life on the line here.

Most of the comments under that Youtube video ask the same thing. Explain this damn stoppage...
