in Morinville Alberta, Shane is a great guy to deal with and always seems to come through when it comes to getting me the gun I'm looking for. I actually took my PPC course from his dad John Vaughn many years ago, he has since passed away from cancer. His son Shane and mother Carol run the store.

What I'm looking for is some feedback on what you guys think I should do to this gun. The main reason I bought this rifle is the fact that I have arthritis in both of my shoulders as well as my neck. It weighs in at 6.75 lbs which I can handle, anything that weighs much more than that creates issues for me. So if I'm going to do anything to this gun, I'd like to keep it from adding too much more weight.

Am I going to see much of a reduction in the weight if I go to a composite stock rather than the wood stock it comes with and do you have any recommendations on where to buy one? Any other suggestions on modifications and where I could go in the Edmonton area to have it done?

Lastly, what are your thoughts on this rifle? I spoke to a dealer here in Edmonton and he said they are far from being an accurate gun but the reviews I read online were all positive. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

nice gun! i would just leave it stock. thats what i do to most of my guns besides a little trigger work and small things like that. i my self am not a fan of the 7.62x39, if i was going to get a 30 cal gun i would get a 308. but i guess its cheap to shoot and a great intermediate round. as far as i know they are pretty accurat. have fun with the new gun! :D

I doubt there is a big weight diff between synthetic, and wood. You say you have a wood one, but pice looks different :p. It looks good as is I'd shoot it first before you do anything. My new mini shoots very well compared to the older ones, mine is 223. Shane's a good guy, glad to hear you made your purchase from CX.

We will need a range report on how she shoots.

I have a Mini-30 with a 2x7 scope on it. Mine is a stock blued rifle with the wood stock. It is nice and reliable. The 7.62x39 is a 30-30 like cartridge with about a 150 yard range, after that it really starts arcing. It makes a nice easy recoiling short range rifle. A plus is all the cheaper blasting ammo that you can shoot with in the off-season. It is a 2 to 3 inch grouping rifle, but that is fine for its effective range.

Thanks, for now I'm just going to go with the iron sights. All of my rifles have scopes, I want to hone my skills using what the gun comes with. This picture is more of an accurate depiction of the gun I have on the way. I did buy a muzzle brake from one of the sellers at the top of the forum.
