I just installed a Volquartsen Accurizing kit on my Mark 2. Only 1 swear word!

Well, After 3 hours of cleaning, watching YouTube videos and testing every fibre of my patience, I finished my first mod on a firearm! My Ruger Mark 2 Target is a nice pistol to shoot at the range, but I wanted to try my hand at improving its trigger and furniture. It was also my first time taking it down and giving it a really good clean. While it was touch and go with big hands and tight spaces at times, I kept at it and am pretty proud of myself for only only swearing once! (In full disclosure my 9 year old twin daughters were in the next room)

The bolt stop pin on the reassembly was the toughest part. I kept getting the hammer strut in the wrong place too!

This new interest is growing with each new experience! Addictive for sure!

I also figured I would give some Fireclean samples a go while I had it apart.

I got the kit from A place in Bonnyville, Alberta. The grips are splalted cherry from a place in South America.

Nice job on the pistol.

If your pistol sits in the safe for any period of time, I suggest you test it before taking it to the range. Similar to Froglube, Fireclean begins to get a bit gummy after about 3-4wks in a dry safe.

Thread revival! Any reports from the range on how this install worked? Be curious to hear if you felt it was worth the $$.

I've installed the MKII VQ Accurizing kit in my MKIII and it makes it a whole new gun. 1.25lbs trigger that you can set creep and return, extended mag release, and good-bye mag safety - it is worth every penny. Anyone I let shoot my MKIII loves it, and those that have a MKII or MKIII always ask me where they can by the VQ Accurizing kit - so I direct them to Sylvestre's.
