:eek:After getting online confirmation of winning bid on the Thunderer, I get a call from the auction house today, saying that I was outbid "when they took it to the floor" I could not believe my ears..:mad::confused:..I had to ask again what she said, and explain to me haw this works.:kickInTheNuts:

I guess they take bids online, then take it to the floor for others to bid on!! I had no chance to up my bid.....had I known-I would have placed a higher bid!

If it wasn't for BAD LUCK, I wouldn't have any at ALL!!!!:mad:
I also find out that my insurance co. had not paid me, because my Doctor went on holidays, and didn't/couldn't let them know I am still on LTD.
F^^K....the way things have been going lately.....:bangHead:
 
Something similar happened to me, although not firearm related.

Several things were up for auction, and there was a "bid book" where you would write down your bin. So, about 10 minutes before the auction ended, I went over to the place. There were several bids, but after some strategy on my my part, I had the winning bid in the book when the auction ended.

Then some jackass comes out, takes the book, and uses the amount that I thought was my winning bid as a starting off point for a live auction on the item! Needless to say I made a stink and walked out on them never to return.
 
Leroy, that is totally gross. It is obvious that they used you poorly. Mind letting us know which auction?
When you get a 'deal' on an auction online there are often excuses from the seller. My favorite one is "oh we just discovered x,y,z broken". Had that twice. Both times I insisted they ship and guess what, they were lying.
You might also find that a seller who is hot to ship to Canada when your bidding up a gun is not so interersted when the auction ends and you got a deal.
With these old guns it is better to pay TOP dollar for the best specimen from a reputable dealer. You can save a couple 5 hundred dollars on the auctions sometimes but it is not usually worth it.

I am sure it is not easy to free up gun money when on LTD, I hope you can find another one that is affordable. That one was way too pitted anyway. You actually are way better off. I bet a minty 1878 DA will turn up for you or a thunderer in much better condition then that one.

I just looked at the pics again and that cylinder is way too pitted. I bet the parts you can't see are worse. Breathe easy and feel resuced.

Ya Leroy Davids Right i didnt want to Rain on your Party when you won the Auction BUT 1877 Thunder Cylinders are very thin Walled. Any Pitting is NOT good.

I agree with David 100% your better off to save a few more bucks and get one with NO pitting.

Mine had nothing to do with firearms. I like to collect things regarding Ancient Egypt. It was a carved statue called an Ushabti. The ancient Egyptians believed that from time to time the deceased would be called upon by the Gods to peform a task in the after life, which is why they were buried with the dead. They believed when called upon by the Gods, one of these Ushabtis (translated to "the one who answers") would come to life and take the deceased persons place, thereby insuring the deceased a restful journey throughout eternity.

Now I return you to the firearms discussion. :)

I know how you feel bud I offered the buy it now price on a Manhatten and was accepted only to find out the seller had sold the gun without telling Rob
Robles at Antiqueguns.com. Boy was I ticked off and thats not the word I used either. Anyway Leroy there are always more guns. Also give the Insurance guy a kick in the butt. Better luck next auction.
