I learned something new today!

Somethings unusual about that stock ... the rt side shows what "appears" to be a crack running up beyond the sling swivel ... and the small hole (now exposed) running through the toe with what appears to be glue in it is not normal from my experience. Do you suppose the glue was put in more recently to reinforce the butt and secure it from splitting along the rt side "fault" line??

I noticed the darker line you mentioned now that I have had my first cuppa.
I'm thinking the dark line is natural grain that t was a natural defect in the waiting...
Prolly weakened due to sap in the grain and the placement of the screw during final assembly.
GMC403 get it fixed up and out hunting and consider it a character scar...only bright hope I could come up with.

No big deal, glued her up bolted on a new sissy pad and she's good to go. The intent was to have this as a working rifle anyways, I just hate banging it up before it even sees a day in the woods.

More of a note to others than anything :)

Now if that darn scope would show up, I could put it through it's paces.

Thanks for all the shared pain ;)
