I like the Shadow... what other guns should I look at?

For a 1911, a lot depends on your budget and intended use. If you are sticking with 9mm, and want a relative bargin, check with Sean at Freedom Ventures about a Spartan. If you can afford a bit more, the same companies Trojan are very nice.

if you like the weight, i'd say Beretta 92. if you are ok with something a bit lighter, then the Sig 226.

My first 9mm was a Shadow. A while back I began looking around and trying various 9mm guns to have a second 9mm to complement my Shadow. I tried a bunch. I'd all but narrowed it down to a GP6 and the Berreta 92FS. But then I ran across an older pre B 75 at the last local gun show/swap meet at a price that was a steal for the gun in the shape it's in. So now I have two CZ's. The Shadow for IPSC duties and the pre B 75 for IDPA. Both are fun to shoot but I have to admit that I'm partial to the 75 for the balance it has compared to the slightly muzzle heavy Shadow due to the full dust cover. Don't get me wrong. I love the Shadow and it shoot fantastic. But the 75 does have a slightly nicer balance to it when you switch back and forth from one to the other.
