Looks cool (important factor to me) and presumably light, short, probably easy to carry in a bush. Anyone ever tried one of these? I am somewhat cautious about sights elevation above barrel, hunting quales for example that elevation might make me think all the time about impact point being lower than aiming point. Right? I am not very experienced shooter especially in the field. Comments please.

Another factor would be of course grouping at, say, 50 yards.

The G22 is a bullpup.

Bullpup's themselves are not prohibited but the stocks are. By some strange letter of the law due to the fact that the G22 can be fired without the stock then the stock is a prohibited item. The status of the gun is in limbo right now and as far as I know you cannot purchase one.
 
I've shot one extensively. Shoots minute of popcan, and the built in laser (optional...but it came on this one) was kind of cool, but far too weak to use in daylight. Unfortuneately....the "cool" factoer wears off, and it's really just another .22.

So I bought this :D

What do you have for a scope on there? Somethng from 1337 Tactical? What's it like?

wobbles please rectify is it just that G22 rifle restricted? I mean, if there are any other bullpups in 22 caliber they will not be restricted? Right? Or if I finally roll up my sleevs and start cutting pink foam and make myself my own bullpup it will be legal, right?

They are prohabited. But the law seems not to restrict people make their own gun stock??? Someone may have more information about this. But anyhow you won't want any Walther products as the G22 is not quite welcomed in rimfirecentral.com when it launch the market.

Bullpups are not prohibited. Bullpup stocks are. It appears that the G22 ruling resulted from the circumstance that the G22 barrelled action can be fired when removed from the stock; the stock was therefore deemed to be a prohibited device.
If, on the other hand, the stock was a functional part of the firearm, not just a handle, and if the barrelled action could not be fired with the stock removed, then a bullpup should be non-restricted if it is over 26" in firing order, and if the barrel has not been cut down shorter than the minimum.
The G22 rifle is not prohibited. Its stock is. There is a challenge to this interpretation, and until it is resolved G22s are not being transferred. I suppose that if the stock were surrendered, the barrelled action could be transferred as non-restricted. But you could not make or obtain a replacement bullpup stock.
So, you cannot roll up your sleeves and make a bullpup stock for an existing barrelled action.
 
Yeah, the G22 is damn sweet :D

It's very light, very accurate, and runs sweet. I just converted all my G22 10rd mags to 13rd mags (by replacing the follower). I've ordered TONS of replacement parts (extra mags, all the trigger and fire group components, etc.) so she'll never break down on me again.

And yeah, it's only because the G22 can fire with it's stock removed that the SHTF. The rear lower stock is deemed a "prohibited device" for right now, untill we get to court. I'm 99% sure we will win the lawsuit, then everyone can have one :). Right now they are prohibited from Import and prohibited from Transfer. You can't lend it to someone either.

###yglock17, please if can let me know when is that court going to take place and how do I know what results are going to be. Can I place an order through gun dealer and wait for court results? How does it work?
 
I believe all gun dealers had to return their inventory, so you probably won't find anyone with one in stock. Of course, once the ruling is done, you can buy a used one from someone who has one, and I have TWO paid for and waiting in the US until the courts get done.

There is no court date yet, but one will have to be set before Nov 30th (doesn't mean the date will be before Nov 30th, but they have until them to set the date).

Crap. I just moved out to BC from TO, know nothing about guns from a practical perspective, and just got my license. I'm getting my restricted firearms next month, and a hunting course next week. I'm wondering about nice, purdy bullpups and a calico m-100. Something that looks nice.
I'll even make a nice custom stock for it.

Is there a rule about bullpups I should know?

As a rule bullpups are not prohibited unless specifically named (Steyr Aug, FAMAS, ect.).

The laws prohibits bullpup stocks. This means that if the design of the rifle is that the stock is removable without rendering the firearm inoperatable it is prohibited.

Rifles like the ps 90 and fs 2000 are examples of ones that are not prohibited.

A good example of a prohibited item is a aftermarket bullpup stock for a 10/22.
 
I was looking at one too, but then found out about all the BS hoopla and figured it wasn't worth it. Suppose when everything is cleared up and it is easy to get might look back into one. I think Epps was selling them until they were told to stop.
