That's all I wanted to say.... I thought we were overdue for an HK appreciation thread around here :D.

I just paid for a USP Compact through Wolverine Supplies. It is going to be a long week or so of waiting for it.

If you think that's bad, I have a Mark 23 that I bought a month ago and haven't put a single round through. I have got to get a different job. I can finally afford the toys, but now I have no time to use them. What a cruel joke that is.

I am a big fan of H&K as well...

Here's the funny thing.. I have heard bag things about both their SL8 model
and the UMC model!

I am hurt and confused by these allegations.

Could anyone clear the air about what I have always considered a TOP firearm manufacturer.

If you mean USC model, I can attest that it is a fine carbine.:D It and the SL8 are kind of odd looking (to get around the US AWB) but they kinda grow on ya. My USC is a super reliable, lightweight, hard hitting rifle...and it looks so much better since I dyed it black. I like it so much, I am going to try it for Tac Rifle this year...now I just need a MK23 or a Tactical as a sidearm...:(

I just can't get over the fact that HK went to all that R&D to develop a bastardized UMP and G36. I have never fired an SL8, but hear they are tac drivers. I would consider getting the new HK M4 even if it is restricted.
The controls of the AR family of rifles/carbines is not something that can easily be improved on. mag release on the USC/UMP and G36/Sl8 is paddle type is it not? That is my only complaint. NOW, I am not saying I wouldn't love to own one or the other!

Oops my bad... Yes I believe it was the USC I was refering too

this guy right? >>>

The point is they didn't put tons of R&D into them...just changed the furniture and trigger group, really. As for the mag release, it is really easy to get used to, and makes me more likely to police my mags properly during a match instead of just letting them hit the deck like my AR.

You're kidding right? Good luck wishing it'll even see the civilian market. HK made it very clear that it's only for sale to law enforcement/miliary. Only very few agencies in the US can get hold of those right now.

re;kidding

if it was available to the civilian market I would want one. But we all know it isn't. Damn HK.

But you will sell it very soon Uncle Walther.:D

Trigun

Yes, it likely won't be in my possession for long :D Although, eventually I will find one that it is perfect for me. I am trying out a bunch of short slide guns now, in my quest for pistol perfection.

There's some pics of the USP Compact Tacticals on the Wolverine website. I think these things are going to be hard to come by. They are certainly not part of the regular HK civvie production run.

Sinasta, yes, you can have "first dibs" when/if it goes up for sale :D

Well its good to see that there are other HK junkies out there. I would like to get the P2000 if it makes it to the Cdn market. The 416 might filter down to the civi market once the Mil/Le had there "kick at the can". I thought the USP compact was prohib?

I love HKs too. Some people think they're overpriced but as far as I'm concerned, quality has its price.

You love HK's eh? Well do you own a P7M8/M13 yet? When you do, you will be obsessed with them! :D

Well, you are in luck, because HK is making a production run of the P2000 for the Canadian market (with a longer barrel). These USP compacts are not prohibited beacause they have a threaded barrel like the Mk 23. It brings the barrel length to 4.46 inches.

These are the sort that Wolverine has brought in. But they are variant 1, and not DOA:
