I love HKs!

I like the pistols more than I like the rifles. ALthough If I could afford it I would most likely have the rifles as well.

I MUST have one of those compact Tacticals!!! :D

I know the feeling man... I put a deposit on one ages ago to make sure I would get one. Not sure how many they have, but I know some are spoken for.

Get it fast!

I tried to call Wolverine on Friday when I saw the post from Ryan, but they were already closed. I will call on Monday...my Visa is gonna be maxxed, but what the heck, I already have some stuff on order there so I will save on shipping!:p

I don't think so. This is just the basic USP Compact that is widely available in the USA, but with a threaded barrel. The barrel does have the O-ring, like the Tac and the Expert, so accuracy should be decent.

As Uncle Walther said, no. It just has an O ring barrel and adjustable sights. A very nice package indeed.

The USP Compact series are very comfortable to shoot. I have owned one overseas, although I would probably take a P2000 over a USP Compact in 9 or 40.

I am a big fan of H&K as well...

Here's the funny thing.. I have heard bag things about both their SL8 model
and the UMC model!

I am hurt and confused by these allegations.

Could anyone clear the air about what I have always considered a TOP firearm manufacturer.

The critique of the SL8 is that it is prone to hairline cracks in a very localized area of the receiver. Namely, in the stock directly under the bolt catch. This is likely caused when people pull the trigger, when the receiver is removed from the rest of the gun. In such cases, since the firing pin is not there to stop the hammer, the hammer smacks down onto the bolt catch, thereby potentially causing a crack in the plastic directly under the bolt catch.

It is an unfortunate design flaw, which apparently has been corrected, with a reinforced bolt catch area. In most cases, it is purely cosmetic. But, if cracked badly enough, it could cause the bolt catch to stop working consistently (i.e. the bolt won't remain open after the last shot).

In any case, there is a lesson here.... if you own an SL8, do NOT pull the trigger when the receiver is removed from the rest of the gun.

HK's

I tried the P7M13 once and fell in love with it. Unfortunetly it is way of my price range. Last week I tested (at work) the P2000 DAO 9mm and did not like it at all. The trigger was waaaay toooo looooong and the grip to short even for medium size hands. When you insert a fresh mag, it tends to pinch the skin at the bottom of your hand if you dont slack your grip a bit. I will soon evaluate the P2000 LEM which looks more promising trigger wise.

Nicholls has the model P3000 listed in their catalog. The grip is longer than the P2000 with interchangable backstaps and side panels. It also has a standard picatinny rail.

Over all, HK does make high quality firearms, but for me, nothing beats a 1911.

What????? P3000??

I thought they were a year or so down the road from being on the market???????
where did you see this??

Hk P3000

I have not seen it in person. I saw it in the new Nicholls catalog. I did not ask the reps if it was in production yet because the company (armored trucks) I work for would not be interested in it. We are currently in the process of selecting a new handgun and one of the many conditions is that the gun must have been on the market for at least 2 years (tried and tested). The new S&W MP falls in the same category.
