So I finally got out the range today and put about 200 rounds down range with my new AR.

Its an armalite upper mated with a Sabre Defense lower.. I bought it off the EE. I am working on getting some pics up.. But all I can say is WOW this gun is fun to shoot. I had ZERO problems with it as well, fired all 200 rounds perfectly.

However, I was shooting with magpul irons and found it impossible to sight them in properly. I was shooting at 50 yards and hitting the target, but not tight groups at all. Any tips on how to do this?

Only thing which peaked my curiousity a bit was that it was ejecting rounds slightly forward.. is this normal? Either way, i guess if it aint broke dont fix it.

Anyways, I am now in love with ARs. :D
 
As long as it throws the brass out of the gun who cares which way it goes? But most of my experiences the spent casings have been thrown forward. As for the magpul irons, how much experience do you have shooting them? Were you using the large ring or the small ring at 50 yards? What distance did you start for sighting in the irons? And finally what size groupings were you getting? When I did mine on a course down in the states I was at 25m. We used 2 1"x1" squares, one of which was 2" above the other (centre to centre). Aiming at the top square your rounds should be landing in the bottom square (barrel sight relationship). I used the smaller ring to sight in the irons, and I got pretty good results (using a well worked in bushmaster). Anyways hope this helps as I managed to get hits all the way out to 300m (70% of the time) on a steel silhouette with the irons. I'm sure there are much more experienced gunnutz out there that will give you some excellent tips to get things nice and tight.

As much as i love this rifle i was just wondering, is it bad/less reliable to have a gun built out of different brand parts vs buying a complete gun? I bought this gun off an LEO on the EE who didn't really know the specific parts on the gun. He had it built for him by a gunsmith who owns a local gunshop in manitoba.

I have done a bit of research ont he rifle and have found that its a sabre lower, and an armalite upper, and I believe its an NEA barrel. I don't know if he bought the lower complete or put it all together himself. I contacted the gunsmiths shop and he said in the email that the gun is built out of all mil spec high quality parts and not to worry about it. hes on the supplier list for wolverine supplies so i guess he knows his stuff.

Do you guys think I have anything to worry about with with those brand parts? I know theres been a lot of bad talk about NEA lately, how are their barrels though?
 
I know the gunsmith you speak of I deal with him personally, he built my rifle for me. He doesn't build cheap crap, rest assured your rifle is going to perform flawlessly. As far as NEA barrels, I have no experience with but I have heard good things about them.
