How bout our good old canadian productions like Live 2 Hunt, Hunting Canada and Beyond and Canadian Whitetail T.V. - To me these are great honest homegrown shows. Big thumbs up to them.

Have some really wide spectrum mixed emotions on the Canadian shows. I agree with you Riflesmith that some are good and honest and homegrown. I have always liked Hunting Canada and Beyond and I thought Cody Robbins had an unbelievable debut season - so much so that it will be difficult to duplicate. Good on him. It was these shows that made me keep my subscription for quite a while.

I am surprised at how the Alberta shows are so bad and the Sask shows so good. It was the Alberta shows (along with all that low fenced sh!& from the states) that made me cancel.
I pondered the difference for a long time and tried to figure out what it was - I finally concluded that it was the difference in the on-air guys sincerity versus arrogance. Even Shockey has a certain genuine-ness about him. The Alberta dudes were self congratulatory at every opportunity with an ever present air or arrogance. That smug-faced heavy equipment guy really got to me when he was blazing away at antelope at long range in a hurricane. His elk at great disatnce with the bow was another sickening low point. And don't even get me started on the Argo guys - their opening sequence inspires nausea every time.

Which brings us back to the OP's mention of Stan - I guess that is what it boils down to for me is a perception of a lack of sincerity and an air of arrogance. Can't hack him.
