On saturday I managed to get a small buck in very close to my ground blind. I stuck the shotgun out the window and I had a beautiful 30yard broadside shot. I pulled the trigger and instead of recoil and a flopped over buck all I heard was "ping" and the buck ran away. I unloaded the shotgun and looked at the primer of the slug, it was lightly punched and now I know why.
Im using a remington 1100 autoloader and when I loaded it I didnt want to just hit the bolt release button because it slams foreward and makes one hell of a racket, I just lighly released it but I guess it didn't slide foreward all the way so the firing pin didn't punch the primer as well as it should have.
Very frusterating! Would have been my second buck in 2 days
